    MX \x/est Coast style

So I've been getting back on the MX bike lately and trying to hit the track at least once a week. Since I hate the gym, MX is my physical exertion of choice, and it's fun! Normally I ride a track about 10 miles from the Ducati office, called SCMX, (more on that later) but this past Sunday Amanda and I hit up a new track, Club Moto. It's about 35 minutes East of our place across the Bay and was pretty cool.

Club Moto has more of a outdoorsy layout than SCMX and utilizes a hill it's built on pretty well. Step-up, step-downs, hip-jumps, tons of elevation changes, all fun stuff. I got there halfway through the day and the track was pretty roughed up, totally hammered ya but that's all part of the game. Anyhow here's a few pics of Club Moto and at the bottom one of SCMX.

SCMX I tend to hit up either Tuesday or Thursday after work. They have lights they have on till 9pm and from 8pm-9pm there tends to be about 4 or 5 ppl on the track. (packed from 4-7 thou!) SCMX is built on a completely flat fairground and has more of a supercross style to it. It's mad fun though and being only 10 minutes from the Office and 40 from the homestead.. no worries!

Pretty different from East Coast riding. The tracks around here (there are about 4 or 5 within 1 hour of me...crazy) aren't like East Coast ones. Tend to have more of a clay / woodchip mixture of dirt and less loose dirt / sand like back home. I sorta miss the wide open sand whoops of Crow Hill or the 5 gear pinned back straight of MX207... but if you want to learn rut riding then this is your place! Tons of ppl out here ride moto as well. Daily you see trucks with dirtbikes in the back heading where-ever.

PRIME EXAMPLE OF DIFFERENCES - A few weeks ago I was sitting at SCMX chilling out between motos. It was about 7:20pm and I saw this beat SUV pulling in with two bikes in a trailer. Out pops two high school girls that start unloading the bikes. Yup, two high school girls drove to the track after school and proceeded to ride until 9pm. WEIRD

Last week I watching this rider clear the biggest jump at SCMX (70-75 footer). It was one I has having some trouble with that day (they changed the run in) so I wandered over to ask some advice. Yea, it was again a HIGH SCHOOL GIRL (different one from previous example) who gave me a play by play dissertation on how to clear that jump.

Juuuuusst a wee bit different out here.

Sure thing. I'll see if I can dig up a bike to borrow for a nominal fee.

Did you remember to clean your air filter and change your oil?
Didn't want you to let your four stroke down after talking to all those high school aged girls.

It all sounds sweet. I am jealous of all the articles about the vast trail riding ops out there.

    Yup! Did both that morning

There is lot of trail riding out here as well, but with all of the crazy emissions laws, stickers, set times to ride, etc I have no motivation to look into it. Besides... can't fit another type of bike in the garage anyway.

I'm jealous...any job openings out there?
Screw the earthquakes, I'd rather ride all year. Snow sucks in New England anyway (most of the time).
