Sitting with freshly oiled plates and full of oil. I'm not sure what oil it had before, but I put Motorex in it because I'm a sucker.

It has a Rekluse z-StartPro. They're older tech now, and have been replaced by their Core EXP line.

I am (shut up Clinton!) thinking of getting the parts to be able to put it back to stock.

If you go back to stock you owe it to yourself to buy a MME clutch lever.
I don't know the ins and outs of the zstart. I've looked at one in a box, but that's about it.
But just because you oiled the fibers before reassembling everything doesn't mean it'll work perfect right away. Ride the bike around some.

Tomorrow I'll re-bleed the clutch and see if that helps. If not, I'll pull the clutch cover and make sure the clutch slave is actuating the pushrod. If it is, then the clutch pack should be moving, right?

In my experience, air that is enough to prevent you from disengaging the clutch fully can be felt in the lever. The lever basically feels floppy, like there's no resistance. Is it possible the lever isn't pushing the master in far enough? The lever's actuator needs adjustment?

I still have a feeling this is just a stuck clutch pack that will be solved by a ride around the neighborhood. Even if your slave's pushroad is moving fully, that might just create a big gap between the pressure plate and the cluch pack. If the discs are stuck together, then the clutch is essentially still engaged.

I hate to keep saying this, but the Rekluse takes away a lot of the traditional clutch feel too. So, it's hard for me to say. (The newer Core EXP technology apparently "fixes" this.)

Thanks. I'll try the stuff I already mentioned above, and if that doesn't work, I'll take it for a spin around the block. Assuming I can get it into 1st gear

I think I've fixed it. I reckon it was a combination of two things - not being bled properly, and clutch plates being a little sticky.

I disassembled and reassembled the slave cylinder for what seems like the millionth time, and tried to use Scottie's Mityvac to bleed it the traditional way. After covering my shoes and some of my garage floor in mineral oil, I filed that away in the Fuck That category. I ended up just reverse bleeding it by hand, literally -- I would squeeze hard (REALLY hard) on the clutch slave piston and it would expel the air up through the master cylinder reservoir. I got as many bubbles out as I could, topped up fluid where appropriate and the lever felt much better.

I started the bike on the work stand and let it run to make sure the transmission was, at least, correct. Strangely enough, when it was in neutral the back wheel would spin as if it was still in 1st. But fuck it, I put it back down on the pavement and gave it a bunch of RPM and she went off like Bristol Palin's birth control prescription. Sure, the neighbors think I'm a cunt, but fuck 'em if they can't take a joke.

I think the wheel spin in neutral is that there's enough drag on the shafts without the need for engagement that it'll start to spin the wheel. Once it gets spinning, the momentum of the wheel makes it easy to keep going. I bet if you lightly touched the tire, it'd stop spinning.

I wish I could make it. According to the PT folks I'd better just go ahead and hope for a mild winter. The wrist sprain isn't improving very quickly and I've started rehabbing my shoulder from last season's big crash. Have fun, fellas.

Wanted to take my daughter to hvd Saturday to practice a little, will the enduro be taking over all the trails or will some of the easy trails be open for practice?

it won't be ALL trails but i would give the trail boss a ring to see what areas might be open. not sure of her skill level but you might be able to stay in one of the flatter, more open areas to practice.

I won't make it Saturday. But I might be in for the fun ride on Sunday. It will be a nice anniversary of when I broke my arm there last year. I'm

Won't there be a pee-wee short loop for the kids on Sunday? That might be a better option for his daughter.

i was wondering if more peeps would join if it was for the Fun Run only. the NESR crew had a great time a few years back.

i assumed he wanted to practice away from the event but you're right. i'm not familiar what they do on 'race day' but for the Fun Run they used one of the real easy 'ovals' way out back (if thinking about location from the regular ORV lot)

Cool. Most likely I'll have my blue ram 2500. (might take a car and trailer) and definitely my white xtrainer!

It's my understanding that no hard plate or MA OHRV sticker is required for saturday... Do yo know if either will be required for sunday?
