My limited dirt career was all about Hodges. Very cool spot, open all year and trails for all skill levels.

Which Motoz tires? Not the hybrids. Your tire doesn't look like the hybrid.

Re: newbie dirt rider... looking for soem other riders

no, not the hybrid, haven't tried one yet... i'm back to running a Tractionator Enduro S/T in the rear, still have a Terrapactor on the front. the Terrapactor rear was terrible in rocky terrain, wet or dry, which is understandable, it's an MX-focused tire, but i know PNW guys seem to like them a lot. didn't work for me at all. they prob need to be aired way down too but i was nervous to run them with less than 10, the sidewall isn't as burly as the Tractionator.

so curious. for my trip to hodges should I essentially bring a track day set up? EZ up, reserve fuel ( would have regardless)
Would have liked to have headed out this sunday but.. fathers day and all.

Re: newbie dirt rider... looking for soem other riders

pretty much a track day setup but maybe scaled down a bit... the EZ up is optional unless it's raining. it gets hot on the pavement in between loops but there is nice shade on the opposite side of the parking areas (small lot + along the right-hand side of the road in). fuel, food, a chair, WATER, few spare parts, tools, WATER, etc. are always good to have on hand.

you'll have a blast at Hodges, there are trails for all skill levels.

Oh yeah, Hodges is fun and the group you are talking to about riding there are good people to ride with. Wish I could make it down there more often.

I know there are more than a few people on NESR of varying skill levels that head up the Hopkinton-Everett Trail system in Dunbarton NH at various times if you are NH OHRV registered. I'll be there pretty frequently once my bike situation is squared away. Broken bike parts suck! But they are something that happens when you ride a lot

Re: newbie dirt rider... looking for soem other riders

Let me clarify. Yes a part of the aftermarket Rekluse clutch is what broke. Typically I am very gentle on clutch parts.

Looking at what happened I have figured out that there were approximately half of the number of screws installed into the broken part that should have been when originally installed. Thankfully I can say that I was not the person that originally installed it.

Other than replacing that part of things I'm also thinking that this is a great opportunity to do the things I should do to this motor like bottom and top end rebuild. Seeing as I have no idea how many hours were on the bike when I bought it and I have put many many hours on it since I bought it, I think it may be prudent to do some proactive maintenance prior to something going haywire and forcing me to do it. Seeing as I'll be waiting a little while for the replacement clutch parts it won't hurt to get it done now anyhow.

    MA road registered? Yes....

MA off road registered? no but I'll go here Off-Road Vehicles

NH off road registered? Nope but I need to go in person per this I assume? Registering your OHRV | OHRV| New Hampshire Fish and Game Department

Re: newbie dirt rider... looking for soem other riders

    Ok

MA Off Road - you'll need to bring a check or money order (they don't take cash and as far as I know no credit cards either) and a bunch of other paperwork First Time Registration of a Boat, Off-Highway Vehicle or Snowmobile to one of the locations listed on Registration Offices

NH Off Road - you'll need to go to one of the dealers on this page OHRV Agents | OHRV | New Hampshire Fish and Game Department with your VIN and an ID and pay the fee

You'll need the MA Off Road for Hodges and you would need the NH OHRV tags for Hop-Ev

There are other trails around MA and NH that are good as well but I'm not overly familiar with them. MA has the places listed on the link you posted above and NH has the ones listed here The New Hampshire Division of Parks and Recreation : Trail Information

Also, Maine is supposed to have some great trails but I haven't been able to experience them as of yet.

Have fun riding where ever you go.

In other words, not worth the hassle for out of staters. Seems like Maine would be a better choice if I wanted to expand my horizons.

What Chipper said plus any of the riding areas in MA aren't all that convenient for you and where you live.
