I'll be riding both days. I pre-reg'd this week. I think if I had to pick, Sunday's route (northern loop?) would be it. It hardly matters though it's all good. Registration is $100. I don't believe there is a reduced rate for single day.

There wasn't a reduced rate for 1 day when I did it (2014?).

im guessing that the usual suspects will be more focused on the following weekend at the track and not want to risk being tired/injured for that.

I'm on the hook to score for a USCRA team on Saturday.
On the fence about running this on Sunday. I feel like I should. Was fun last year. I like fun.
But then I've made zero attempt to sign up at all.

No capable street registered dirty toy.

I might see if I can help out with the kids classic they run at Clough. Depends on if I get my stuff together with a bunch of other projects.

Re: NH classic charity ride 2016

looks like its going to pan out with me having the day off. long term forecast implies that i may be wet with more than just sweat.
still gotta get the bike ready:
    -mend my broken license plate
    -change trans oil
    -find street reg
    -install mirror

    couple questions:
can i register the day of on location?
is trail well marked or do i need a route sheet holder?

Yes, registration is open Friday night and both Saturday and Sunday morning. Registration is $100 and I think you need to be a NETRA member as well. I belive they have a special weekend only membership if you dont plan to ride any other NETRA events this year. Lot of info here:
New England Classic Charity Trail Ride - Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

The trail is typically well marked. This ride is one of if not the biggest NETRA turkey run of the year. With the amount of riders out on the route you should be able to find your way alright without a route sheet holder. I did my first turkey run without a route sheet or odometer. The only thing you'll be a little left out on is the when the trail splits for a hero section/bypass. Most any dealership would probably have a route sheet holder too, if you want to grab one before the weekend.

Oh, and "install mirror"?? I wouldnt worry about it. After loosing a couple in the woods I gave up on that.

My technique was to wander around looking pathetic until Bill and Bill agreed to let me follow them. They then regretted that spending the next 2 days waiting on me. Fortunately I made it w/o a route holder or any real idea where the hell I was or where I was going.

Re: NH classic charity ride 2016

For those of you looking at this thread and wondering about doing a NETRA turkey run this should be one to try. It's not a difficult course compared to some other TRuns that are on old Enduro loops. The pace is as fast as you want it to be. Most of the trails are what I would consider Jeep roads and 4-wheeler trails. If you like fast and flowing trails this is for you. There are some sections that are single track but they are not the supreme tests of manhood like some of the enduro courses other TRs run.

If you don't have a route holder then carry the route sheets in your camel back as a back up. Most of the places you get lost are on the street where you are transferring to the next trail sections. Looking out for traffic and missing an arrow can get you anxious for what went wrong. Reset your trip-odo at the start and see where you are at for mileage at the beginning of transfers. Look for resets to the trip and try to keep your trip odometer current to the course. This will help you figure out where you are on the sheet should you need to pull it out.

Go out early and let passing riders lead you. You will probably find a group that is waiting for a rider at the beginning of transfers. Wait with them and follow them to the next trail section.

Those are a couple of my tips. I pretty much never looked at my route sheet the whole ride other than to do my odo resets and forward the route sheet to the next section just to add to the fun. If you plan on doing more of these get a BZR route sheet holder. Ask around the night before and see if you can find the guy selling them out of his truck. I forget his name but he shows up at events and sells them word of mouth. Not cheap at $80 bucks for the magnified version. (I think) But worth every cent compared to the plastic ones I tend to smash on the first crash.

Started seeing all the fresh route markings all up in our 'hood. Can't wait to see all you monkeys in our woods/roads. At some point, you may see us trail-side on our 'wheelers. Most likely in the Clap Road area...

Re: NH classic charity ride 2016

i have no odometer on my bike so i guess a route sheet would be all but useless anyways

i assume i should be carrying oil (2 stroke) for fill ups.

In case it wasn't clear, that's 2 gallons per day. Basically keep enough premix in your bag to refill the tank at all times. Those mini containers of husky branded oil you find at Lowes work fine. Refill 'em with the good stuff after the first use. #ilearneditbywatchingkates

There are similar events coming up later this year. Get working on the bike and catch the next one. 2016 Calendar

They don't have info on some of the upcoming events, but you can change the date range to view last year's stuff. Here's the 2015 Ammonoosuc River info, which is up again this September. It's another two-day ~100mi/day event.

how "street legal" do they have to be?

I have a plate/registration from south dakota but it says from your residing state, which SD is not.

Headlight/tail light and rear blinkers that aren't wired to anything. and a mirror.

I have a pretty full setup lights wise. You can certainly get by with less. I see plenty of people run a fairly minimalist setup. As long as your plate/registration is valid and you have some kind of certificate/card (whatever the state issues) you'd be fine in that respect. For lights you might get away with less but my suggestion is you at least have a functioning head light and a red tail/brake light that operates off the rear brake at a minimum.

installed new grips (forgot i needed those) last night and drained the trans oil, only to realize i didnt have any. grabbed some today.
    fixed my broken plate today.
just have to fill the trans oil. i am unsure of how much goes in though. do i just fill it until it starts coming out the hole on the right side?
