What about out of state plates, i.e. riding in MA with VT plates. Still need a sticker?

    Re: ohrv trails

Any OHRV needs a sticker even a snowmobile riding on a frozen lake in NH

Although if your MC is street plated you can ride it on the ice.

    Re: ohrv trails

    Same question but different circumstances.
Do you need a mass OHRV sticker if your mass plated?
Its a toss up between street registering in NH. No insurance will be needed and I'd be able to get an antique OHRV sticker for life on my 1986, or street registering in MA, I believe I don't need an OHRV in MA, but having to pay $65 a year for a non-resident NH OHRV sticker. I've called the MA environmental police and only gotten an answering machine, no call back. Anyone who is in the know could you please help me out.

Yes, if you want to ride in the very few legal OHRV places to ride in MA legally.

In addition the MA OHRV Reg. occasionally helps out a little when you are riding where maybe you shouldn't be riding. If you catch the fish and game, or regular old townie, police officer on a good day he/she may just tell you to head home, or even keep riding, if he/she sees the Reg. where without it he/she may have impounded your bike and fined you up the wazoo.

Would one need an OHRV sticker on a plated bike if they were to go on a fire road?

My understanding is that if it is designated as a trail than you would need the OHRV sticker if it is designated as a class 4, 5, 6 road, that is classified as a road but not maintained very well, than I would assume that the street registration would be sufficient.

Not sure where "fire" roads fall in this. Where they are usually gated I would think that they are not open for public travel and therefore not legal for either OHRV or street registered bikes to be on unless specifically indicated by signage.

    Re: ohrv trails

So i got a NH non-resident sticker on the dirt bike and went up to Clough State Forrest in weare, NH. The place could get boring, but it would take quite a long while. By the time I've outgrown the place the $65 for the registration will have been a bargain. Alot of tight twisty single and double track trails, the majority of them are one way to avoid crashes. Alot of altitude changes throughout the trails too. They all loop around and connect to the parking lot. The parking lot itself is huge and has loading ramps for pickups. I was told that in the summer the weekends would have tailgating, tons of riders from all over and a cool atmosphere. Since the land is partly Army Corps of Engineers too the place looks well kept up. I'll definitely be going back again real soon. Check out this linky:

Had a ball my last time out there, should be a much better experience now that I have usable tires, a working clutch, a carb that isn't trying to fuel every bike in a 300mi radius by itself, etc.

    Re: ohrv trails

my schedule blows, but i'm down to plan something at some point.

i'll be the one with a bike trying to fuel every other bike in a 300mi radius though (guess i do still have issues after sucking that muddy silt in, pisses if you look at it funny. gotta clean it out AGAIN)

    Re: ohrv trails

Anytime people want to gather for a day of riding at Clough let me know and I'll be there. I have been up there at least one day out of every weekend for the last month or so. It has been good riding every time.

Not that it bothers ME. But each & every time I've been there, I see LEO's in the parking lot and/or F&G on the trails. Just saying it may be wise to be legal there is all...

Ironically, I've been questioned by the locals about my trailer more so than anything ATV/dirtbike related out there. Weird, huh?

Not so sure I can make it out this weekend in a buddies wedding on Saturday and probably tied up Sunday too. Post up the details if you do decide to go and I'll see what I can do.

If you do get up there it will likely be wet! All this rain from Friday and Saturday should fill in all the holes quite nicely and make for a slip sliding day of riding fun.
