Pachaug camp n ride columbus weekend

The loose plan

show up friday evening at Mt.Misery Camp ground in pachaug state forest set up camp

leave the camp area sat morning to do the netra loop with hero sections included ( roughly a 60 mile loop )

camp out again sat night

ride the loop again on sunday but skip the major hero section
( powerline trail and the long washed out up hill with the " step ups" )


you will need a valid street plate to do the loop , the rangers check for that especially in the campground

bring water and something to eat for lunch that you can pack with you as we will be stopping trail side for our lunch breaks and we will be at the furthest point away from the camp area at lunch time

dinner friday and saturday nights will be in the camp ground , so bring food and something to cook it with .

In effect for 2010 The possession or use of alcohol is banned from from June 11, 2010 through September 7, 2010 inclusive for all campgrounds in Pachaug. Please do not bring alcoholic beverages and plan your visit accordingly.

but I assume that means we can bring it that weekend as its after september .

there is no electric at the camp sites but there are bathrooms and water .
not sure if they are still charging for the season or not, they didn't charge post season in years past .

I will try to get there friday afternoon to get set up . I have a black thule V nose and a silver Dakota

the free camping starts after columbus day weeked , we can just split the cost of the site , $24 a night for non CT residents max 6 people per site

Did you happen to ask if power was included in that? I know some of the sites have power poles there to plug into

I did not ask the question , but being that we can not make reservations and it is first come first served I would still plan to bring the generator just in case we are not able to get one of the sites that has a power outlet .

What about drinks? Did you ask about drinks? Can we drink?

I simply sent an e mail to see if we had to pay , I take the verbage above to mean that we can have drinks as it only says no drinks between june and september , and we plan to be there in october .

I remember a year when bob had to go home to drop off one bike and get the other one due to registration issues , and another time when the ranger knocked on the camper door to check registration on marks truck. so yeh they look into it .

I sure hope my local shop has some tires on Tuesday. I have been looking around the web and can not find tires in my stock size that are not duel-sports. I have a feeling that I have to switch tire size to get the mx51's. Shop said they have mx51 and 749's on the shelf, I hope so.

Stock size is 90/90 front, 140/80 rear. Thoughts? I think I could get them shipped here quick if I knew what size would still work...

Oh yeah, what kind of beer do you guys want? I'll cover that for the trip. Least I could do for the Maine folks

Ok...Well considering it is going to cost me over $100 to have them here for wednesday, Im going to hope Razee does have them. Said the other day they did...If not I got quite the ride to Ct.

, as is their octoberfest , though not marks cup of tea . the other wife is coming down sat night , but won;t be there fri night . if that helps decide how much to bring .

i'll probably cook on the fire sat night and I 'll have the cofee pot for the morning , most likely going to just do cereal or oat meal for the morning rather than cooking any thing .

Motorsports Nation I think? They have Yamaha, Honda and Suzuki.
Not sure if they are open Sundays or not, but I know they are closed on Mondays?
