Pics of work from XRs Only

So I had some spare time and a motor laying around. Next thing I know I have spent a bit too much on a 30 yr old motor. The bottom end has been thoroughly checked out and is in good shape. All the upgrades were in the top end.
    XR's Only did the following:
    Timing chain
Web Cams trail grind hard surface cam
    Hard surface rockers
    Kibblewhite Stainless valves
Kibblewhite hi-po valve springs w titanium retainers
    Jug was overbored 3mm
Extended cooling fins welded onto the jug (custom, never been done by them before)
Extended fins welded onto the head
    Trail port job
Ceramic coating of the combustion chamber, back of the exhaust valves and inside the exhaust ports

I bought it from a guy in NH because it had a plate. Total bare Frame restoration. New seat, cables, bearings, seals, brakes, tires chain and sprockets. Rode it for part of that season then plated it over the winter. Rode a few turkey runs and alot of exploring. Put a few more upgrades into it at the end of least season like a trailtech vapor and such. Over this past winter I decided to build the motor, just because it was there. That's when the ideas started to flow and the modifications got a little silly. But when it's done it will be a one off trail bike that is just barely street legal.

Just waiting for a couple of minor parts to finish this off. This should be a fun season.

    looking good!

and wow...I'm impressed with how well you got an '86 engine block so clean...usually they have little pits embedded with dirt that I can usually never get out

Prior to sending it out to XRs Only I sandblasted all of the top end parts. The bottom end is going to get sprayed with paint stripper and the scuffed up with a wire brush and scotchbrite pad. Then I'll hit it with the green colored self etching primer so it bites into the aluminum. Final top coat will be a high temp engine paint. Look like brandy new.
