Or am I misinterpetting this info?
The complete "loop" uses public roads as trail connectors, you may even have to travel a mile or so down the road. Pachaug is not one big solid block of state land, there's lots of town roads and peoples houses all mixxed in. When this "loop" was created, part of the deal to allow motorcycles was that they must be street legal in order to use the trails. For this area, it's a good thing because the trail system there probably could not handle the traffic of ORV use.

To make it perfectly clear, if you do not have a street registered and insured bike, you legally cannot ride there. I've heard the fine is hefty if cought

Are you sure it's not a quad you're riding? A comment like that would get you banned from NEdirtbikes for sure

I by far have the loudest bike of our small group but I'm working on making it quieter. I just picked up a ProMoto Billet end cap with a approved sparky and a 96db quiet core that I'll be installing today.
I would try and keep it as quiet as possible if you can, they're not fast trails so the few horses you lose will not be noticed

I was just kidding about the baffle. I like to keep it quiet in the woods. I'm jetted but I plan on keeping the exhaust stock and quiet. It's got a forestry approved -96db spark arrested factory system. I'm leaving it alone.

Hmmmm let me see how far of a haul it is to your area....................

    I'll report back soon.

I had just made plans with a quad group for some riding tomorrow but I'd rather do some exploring of some trails and powerlines near my house?? I have no idea what to expect so it could be a total waist of your time or it could turn out to be some awesome riding. Let me know, if I went with the quad group I'd need to let them know I wasn't going with some sort of notice, I'd be leaving my house about 8am.

I'm going to pass on Pachaug riding until I find out the facts. I have to call the DEP officer in charge of Pachaug Monday morning at 8:30 and he is going to explain to me what's what with that place.

You didn't have to come that early I just needed to know what the plan was by 8am so I could let the quad guys know I wasn't going
I'll do some exploring today and see what I can come up with

3 hours of riding, lost track of the miles but of the 3 hours, I was on pavement for maybe 15 minutes total I fell a whole bunch of times again so it has been confirmed that I forgot how to stay uprite on a dirtbike That being said, it probably wasn't the best idea going out alone!!
One more day of exploring and I may be able to lead a small group from my house and be able to get 5 or 6 hours of ride time in It looks to be a "tollerated" area so anything can happen, quiet seems to be the key because I ran into several quad riders and they were all running stock exhausts

Anyway, I fell in one of those nice black muddy puddles so i gotta clean some riding gear and my bike

You should try a Turkey Run, basically just an organized ride. They're usually fine and you can always bypass a hero sections or bail out early if you get tired. As enduros go, the Little Rhody and the Somers Fun aren't bad if its been dry. You don't need to worry about time keeping stuff right away, just try a finish the course. I hardly ever complete the races. If I do I'm usually houred out by then.

I spoke with a DEP officer in charge of Pachaug today and found out some details.
Central Cycle club is in charge of the marking and maintaning of trails so any trail work will have to be organized through them.

Most of the trails ARE multi use where hikers, mountain bikers, horse back riders, and street motorcycles can all use them. He also said it's been a ongoing problem where hikers and horseback riders pull down the markings on the trails they don't want the bikes on. The bike trails are marked with either a small red arrow or a orange and black marker nailed to a tree.
He also noted a fair sized section of the loop was closed not to long ago and he'd show me where on the map.... which brings my next question to him.

As for maps, there are maps but he can't give them out. The area covered by the Pachaug loop takes up 5 full topographical maps and he said to shrink it down to a simple map that someone could use would cause the trails to be to hard to see. He did tell me if I bought a detailed topographical map that I could bring it to the forest headquarters and he would help me highlight the loop That's my plan for sure!!

This loop is known as the "Pachaug Rock Loop", and is 50+ miles, used to be 60+ until it was shortened...we were on the rite trails for sure last time

Thanks for the research Mark. But you should still journey further from your back yard Maybe seek out places that are more central to peeps willing ta hook up with ya for a ride. Just a suggestion.

I've been driving to ride for 10 years, I'm certainly not afraid to journey further than my backyard
The only other person here that has stepped up and offered some riding in their area is Sean, and I've been to everyone he's offered.
I'm not quite sure what you're getting at Wayno but I'll give you a little suggestion, explore something in your area and invite us for a ride And if you don't want to ride Pachaug (which it seems you don't like it there anyways) don't read or reply to the posts so we don't have to sit in the parking lot waiting for you like we did last time when you didn't show

Not trying to be an ass but it's the second time you've said try a new area, yet have offered nothing. Thanks for your time
