Hrmmm... WReck won't be running, but I have this TTR-125LE I need to get used to... dunno if I want to buy a NH reg for it though.

See you guys in the AM. My bike is a Kawasaki KX450 with racing number 105 and I drive a black F150. My neighbor will be on an old Yamaha 490 smoker.

    That was fun.

Huge thanks to Joel for the pointers and then for pulling my ass out of the woods. I definitely needed a breather at that point.

Thanks everyone for waiting up for me.

And thanks Chip and Brian for lending me gear. I needed it!

    I had a blast. I'm sore everywhere and I didn't even crash.
Bubs, glad you decided to take those elbow pads
Once I figured out how to start my bike it fired 1st kick. Thanks for the pointers Joel. Made it a lot easier to get around out there.

I know. I had to ask the poor guys name 3 times. Partly because I couldn't hear a running 747 if it parked in my living room and partly because I was so amazed that there was another one of you cats in our midsts.

    Tell me about it.

Is it really crashing if you just kind of lie down?!

If you laugh when you crash, or lie down, it's a learning experience in the woods.

You can't meet the other chips. It would cause some sort of tear in the time space continuum

Bummed I didn't get there early enough to ride with you guys, but bench racing at the end is sometimes just as fun. Put a couple more names to faces, only took one meaningful digger, successful day.

Oh, and we hit up that like 3.5 mile pond loop at the end, holy shit that was fun. Could have lapped that all day.

Towards the end it was getting old. But then it was getting to be more washed out fronts and less just clumsy face plants. So strange trying to remember to weigh the other peg like that. And that DRZ gets HEAVY as soon as you get it just a few degrees past upright.

I did finally make it through that stair step down-hill section on Hang Glider Hill Edit: Bassett Mill without incident. Never did find the easy way Joel was talking about.

Stark Pond was about my speed. I actually really liked the sand.. I think I'm glad I bought the tires Chipper recommended.

Can't thank you guys enough for putting up with a slow, ill-prepared noob.

Re: Pre-Banquet Dirty Ride Nov 9th

Yesterday was a great time! It was fun to meet all the NESR folks that I didn't know and get out there on the trails. A day riding is right up there on the top of my list for things that make it a good day.

Bubs and Oxx, you guys did great for being out on the trails for what may have been your first time. Any time either (Or both) of you want to head out again, give me a shout I'd be happy to join.

Chips, there are the two of you and then on NEDB there is the Chip that has Chip for a screen name. Those are the three I know of.

    Joel

Bubs the rooty downhill you speak of is on Bassett Mill, just in case you head back there and want to find it again. The less bumpy way down that is not readily apparent, usually you are carrying a lot of speed into there and it pushes you out onto the roots. If you can remember where you are on the trail and know it is coming (or be looking far enough ahead to see it) you can slow down enough to go left at the beginning of the roots and make a straight shot down the rocks onto the bridge. Much nicer/smooth ride down the hill that way.

Re: Pre-Banquet Dirty Ride Nov 9th

If anyone is going to head out again to Clough before the snow flies, give me a heads up. Joel, Colin, Brian, and everyone else involved welcomed us new guys (like me) to the group, very much appreciated. A Big thanks to Bill for sticking out the River Loop, hate hitting that trail alone. That was rocky, stupid fast fun. Braap!

Bubs - Stick with the off road riding. You'll be surprised how much confidence you'll gain on the road/track from getting used to a bike moving around all over the place under you. Helps you focus more on the task at hand. Off road on a thumper, let the tranny and the motor be your brakes. Front brakes are there, but can get you in trouble quick. You did awesome, as did Brian. I'm jealous of racers bike.

And I saw a butt load of GoPro's yesterday. Where's the Carnage?

I will say I like the DRZ engine a lot. It is a tractor and put up with me not paying attention to gear selection or revs a lot. Definitely a ton of engine braking.

What's that, there were lessons on kick starting? Shocked, I say, Shocked I am at this.

I'm surprised Joel just doesn't start selling electric start conversion kits in the parking lot...
