    Re: THE QUARRY

I thought this was about the show...

Edit: sometimes gaps need to be husked.

    Re: THE QUARRY

I only watched the first episode of the show. I can't say it's the greatest thing ever, but it's probably better than duck dynasty.
Re: husked. My wife was trying to talk the mtb talk when referring to "hucking" drops and stunts and whatnot...she said husked instead and it's stuck as a goofy joke.
Now nothing is hucked, everything is husked.

    Re: THE QUARRY

Been watching a bunch of these types of vids to prepare for an upcoming dirt ride.

And as amazing some of the things they do look on video, I know that the camera usually flattens things out and makes them look easier... so in fact these "tricks" are probably even more impressive in real life!

    Definitely humbling.

Please. I crash faster and with more style than any of those hacks navigate those obstacles. I bet they haven't even been able to tip over while standing on the bike without it running.

I am glad the end of the vid showed that even the pros sometimes get it wrong.

Yeah, only a few of those moves looked fun to me... All others I would be falling like timber.

    Re: THE QUARRY

the docked tail was interesting to me, wonder why he trims. easier dismounts?

whenever i watch these trials guys ride 'enduro' it makes me want to practice loading up the motor and dropping the clutch over various (easier) obtacles. great technique that's useful for pretty much everything you'd encounter on a reg trail ride. e.g. simple hills long or short.

last wknd i failed at a super long hill climb, took me three tries, because i didn't attack it from the get-go. there was a wet gully > rock face, then bowling balls, then a loose rain gutter all the way up. it wasn't hard but attacking with high revs then clutch dump from the bottom would have got me into the higher, clean line much better and faster than 'thinking it through' and trying to motor up feathering.

another thing that comes to mind watching this, rear brake control. for some reason i can move all around on the pegs with my left foot but my right stays put. i worked on this a lot last weekend because sitting was rarely an option. such a weird fucking habit i'm having trouble breaking (/pun). need drills.
