    R7 ..... sprocket question

I use the same countershaft sprocket with both sets but use a different rear for each. For the dirt I use a 14/52 combo and I bought a extra X-ring chain for that set-up. For the street stuff, I run a 14/45 with the standard MX chain that came with the bike, non O-ring. I think there is either a 4 or 6 link difference in length from the 45-52 rear sprockets.
I also have another complete set of chain and sprockets for the street before I had 5th and 6th gears installed, 15/38 with a non O-ring chain

It's much easier to have 2 of everything when doing a wheel swap, it probably cuts the change over time in half

    R7 ..... sprocket question

tx mark, tha't what I'm thinking of doing, I have 2 complete sets of wheels too, I have a 16t up front, and have been running a 46 i the rear, but the extra wheel came with a 44. they are not that far apart, I can get away with one chain.(actually I have the 44 on at this moment) I was thinking if getting a second chain so I could run a 50t+ in the back, I was thinking of going to a 54

stock on SV is 15/45 for the nekid and 15/44 for the S

    R7 ..... sprocket question

for that many more teeth you will need more links... and i have had no luck buying just a few links with another master, so i always end up with a second new chain... for the yz, the xr and both fifties.

i have a question for you... why 54+ teeth on an sv? are you going stunting?

With the xr i went from a 44 to a 52 tooth rear. killed the top speed but slowed it down to a controllable roar in the woods. she used to spin the wheel way too easy when i romped on the throttle and that always ended up with me on the ground, going to the 52T made it much more tame and controllable. seems counterintuitive to most, but it really does work out that way.

I've been running knobbies on my SV in the winter for 6 years
now I have a set of spare rims, I want a lower gear ratio for off road

I was figuring I'd need a second chain too
