worked on the WR a little bit more... Wondered why my turn signal etc headlights werent working. Looks like I sheared a wiring harness to the switch controlling them. Did a quick pig tail connect and they still dont work so I'll need some more time to figure out and use the test light and multimeter......
Do I need "lights" headlight/ brake for the run on sunday " unregistered trail?
Read the hare scramble book, doesnt seem to require front or rear lights, horn.
Bike started up easy enough but..... only runs with choke on. Probably a pilot jet. I had drained the carb entirely and had used ethanol free gas too. Might try fresh gas. Idle was turned way up and didnt help even after warming up for 10 minutes.
So another 2 hours to do that. and then bleed my front brake as it got some air in it last ride, due to a crash and it leaking.
Then the KDX and worry about the wiring later....

    Fun.
i rolled the flat-tired 200 out of the corner yesterday, fingers x'd for a smooth wake up ... keep massaging those bikes, this will be a great season kickoff.

on the rules, hare scrambles will be much different than DS/Turkey/Enduro. i have zero anything but assume, until we hear different, that the short course will be fully closed course style.

Anytime you want to ride, let me know, they definitely could use some burning in.

Broke out the kips / power valves..
    https://imgur.com/a/SiUL1rd

    Holy crap.
    They were stuck in there
Feedback please , the valves etc I'll soak in kerosene etc and scrub / use a pick and Dremel wheel .
But the actual cylinder that the valves were pulled out of are still nasty ?
Brake cleaner and tooth / metal wire brush. ? Do I worry about anything seeping anywhere ?

it looks like the cylinder is off the bike? should be able to just clean and not worry if it is. sounds odd but WD40 can be a great cleaner for 2T sludge. with all the mud still on the cylinder you're going to want to clean all of that really well anyway so do a full clean. i always wash a bare cylinder with soap (Dawn) and water really well after service work. let dry completely before reassemble, obviously.

bike will be much happier with that stuff cleaned up. you doing a top end while in there?

top end.. stop... making... more ... work.

Cylinder is off...I might soak it in some diesel i have. I didn want to take the cylinder off but I had to , for bolt access.

The valves etc , small bits are soaking in diesel now. I'll find another container to soak the cylinder in KIPS valve down.

Yup I need to clean the stuff up..... it was definitely always put away wet, dirty , muddy etc...

I’m chuckling because when this thread started, I thought “I can get my 450 back together in time for this! No sweat!”

I had a full engine rebuild done over the winter, the bike has been stripped down to the frame and sitting on shelves.

The bike is still stripped down and sitting on shelves.

Clinton, there is a group that I'm fairly certain you know from riding at Hodges that are going to be riding this. Most if not all have registered dirtbikes though. Not sure how much of the two tracks are the same.

Yeah I think Steve's doing it along with a bunch of others.

I'd be going too but I've been hangin w/ the little dude so much that I've got a ton of catch-up stuff to get done around the house.
