How not to ride an ATV

I thought I would post this up because it is pretty funny although embarrassing....

Went riding at Clough a month ago on my sport quad, nice trails, nice berms, getting some pretty good speed through the turns with the back end stepping out, generally having fun. Going up the second hill with the blocks dug in, an dthe front left decides to drop off the blocks....I didnt think much about it until I scanned ahead and saw the tree roots creating two steps up....
I thought I could ride it out, so weighted the back end goossed it over the first root only to have the second catch the front wheel......

I remember feeling my legs suddenly over my head, and that weightless feeling you get when forward momentum is converted to vertical momentum...as I flew over the handlebars using my arms as the pivot point I recall thinking wow that headlight is bright....then bouncing along the ground .... I thought it was over at that point....I was wrong....

The quad made it up over the second root on its own and continued on ....right at me... I was on the ground in front of it and the front wheels log rolled me about 5 feet then ran over my back....I clearly remember thanking god that it was not a 4 wheel drive, as it ran me over and stalled on top of me.... nothing more embarrassing than getting run over by your own machine.
The only down side was that the people riding with me did not get to see it... as I described it to them they had tears in thier eyes, from laughing so hard, and when I turned around I had a perfect tire tread across my jersey....

So after everything else...no replacement parts, just had to bend the left bar back and adjust the clutch lever.....ended up with 3 broken ribs....and traded the sport quad in for a new king quad....

I think there may be a roost protector in my future..
