I know it's been talked about before but...

do you need a MSO/title to register a bike for off road in Mass?
I found a killer deal on a older YZ but he doesn't have the MSO. I'm just thinking ice for the winter rather than torturing my KTM, plus I know I can get my money back in the spring for it

Anything I should be looking for/problems with a YZ400 Thumper? Idiotboy?

For off road I believe all that is required is bill of sale and receipt for the taxes paid.

I'll have to pay the sales tax as it's a private sale

I found a killer deal on a dirtybike that I want use for ice riding this winter, I may even keep it around for some state forest riding I'm gonna go pick it up I guess on Tuesday of next week

Nope, I still gots the YFZ I gave the YZ away, I'm not giving the YFZ away as I'd rather keep it for the few days i decide to hit the MX track

The R1 is being picked up this weekend so a spot is open
This is a deal I can't pass up and it almost makes up for letting the YZ go so cheap. Once the bike is in my possession, I'll post up some deatails

Yup, all you need for a Mass orv plate is bill of sale and proof of sales tax. The closer to stock the bike is, the better.Just check for normal used dirtbike wear items, mine had loose spokes and beat linkage bearings when I bought it.If the guy changed the oil and kept the air filter clean and didn't rev the crap out of it you should be good. The 400s have steel valves which are much longer lasting than the Ti valves in the new ones.I've got tons of spares and a decent knowledge of the inside of that motor,if you need anything let me know,I work for beer.

P.S. there's a form you can fill out at your Yamaha dealer to get a duplicate MSO,I just got one for mine in an attempt to get a title.
Also, I've got a brand new Yosh Ti slip-on still in the wrapper you can have for a hundred bucks if you want it.

Cool!! Thanks for the advice idiotboy. The bike looks extremely clean in the pictures though I'm sure the plastics have been replaced. He said the bike is all stock other than some Tag bars, some skid plates and some beefy looking top tripple?

I'll keep ya posted on the yosh, if I like the bike maybe i'll pick it up from you when I come in to pick up my R6 next month

I'll see how things go, if it's that simple to get a duplicate MSO I may give it a try, then try for a street plate
