    Never had that problem.
I had the pivot fail while trying to kick the bike on ice.. harder than it sounds.

The mounting bolt on mine broke taking the flange on the frame with it. I ended up replacing it with a Pro Moto Billet model.

Only reasons I can think of......

Does sand/dirt get in between the pivot bolt and the kickstand arm and bind up the joint?

Are the pivot bolt and the kickstand arm made of materials that gall over time due to the clearance between the two being too small and not lubricated?

No lock nut on the back.....allows it to move a tad every time it goes up

    Re: Sidestand tightens up?

What confuses me is that it's not a bolt/nut design, so it is able to tighten up every time I put it down. I tried locktight to no avail. I think the sand makes it worse.

I'm not quite enough of a redneck that there are trees in my garage... and since it's a carport there are no walls either.

Used to happen to my 525 exc and 200xcw, only thing that solved it for me was a shot of chain lube to the pivot point every time I lubed the chain.. which was before every ride.

I've been having that problem lately too. Seems like it stiffens up and requires another spray almost every ride. Pretty sure it only started happening after the first time I got spray-happy and spritzed everything I could see. Been thinking maybe I should take it apart, clean thoroughly and stop lubing it.
