Jelly.
I can't ride anything right now. Banged up my knee pretty good. And I think I'm due for a top end. Have fun.

At the local practice track last night here in Southwick, someone mentioned that the banners from the national (around the whole track on both sides) were still up. That's pretty unheard of, people used to always steal them the minute the races were over, but now they've cracked down on that. Anyway, it should give a cool different look while riding if they are still up..
So, you're saying there's still a chance we can steal them??

If my knee is feeling better, I'll be there.
It's a fucking wild place to ride.

This was AWESOME today. The rain overnight made the track perfect, and kept the crowds way down. One of the most fun days I've had at mx 338, ever.
Dunlop ran the day for free, with tons of shwag, great tire prices, and they even mounted my non-Dunlop ice tires on a spare set of rims I had picked up for my KTM. I bought two rear tires from them at a huge discount, and tons of other people did too. Their mx11 sand tire is pretty awesome, I found out. Anyway, they had some fun activities in addition to the open track day, including a relay race during the intermission around lunch time. Two man teams, one lap each, dead engine start. A buddy of mine and I decide to enter. I draw short straw to go first, with the dead engine start, because my buddy has short legs and a CR500 two stroke, so kickstarting isn't his strong point. I line up near the outside, and who lines up right next to me on the start line? John freaking Dowd, who will do the first lap for his team and then his son, who is also very fast, will do the second lap. I raced in some motos with Dowd years ago, and got lapped by him, of course, but those were long motos. We are both around the same age, about 50, so I guess we are both slower now, me moreso than him. Still, when we shut off our engines to wait for the flag drop, I joke with him during the silence that I'm going to be pissed if he beats me to the first turn.
Guy with the flag walks up the start straight where (pretty much LOL) all the riders can see him; he's got the flag by his side and he's checking his watch for some reason. Usually they raise it up high, then drop it after a pause. This guy still has it by his side, barely budges it, and three dudes fire up and take off. Even Dowdy does it! LOL false start...they re-grid us. Take two now; he raises the flag like normal, and drops it like normal, my bike fires up first kick, already in second gear, and I get a great jump...in fact, I'm pulling the holeshot up the start straight, with no bikes in my view! I can sure hear them, though. Partly because this is a "fun race," and partly because I know I'm toast even if I get around the first turn in the lead, I decide not to cut across the pack to try to take the first turn tight. A couple guys outbrake me on the inside and so I come around the first turn and down thru the washboard in third or fourth. Mx starts are cool. Especially at the Wick. The washboard is gnarly and nasty whoops as usual, not the place you wanna bin it with a bunch of guys behind you, racing. I get thru there ok, then at the big dropoff after the washboard, Dowd comes flying by me like I was stopped. I laugh inside my helmet that this is like mx fantasy camp, and at least I held him off that long!
Oh yeah...forgot to mention. Since Dowd is a winner of outdoor nationals and ex factory rider and everything, they made him start facing backwards (LOL). That's why he busted the first start when the other dudes jumped it, because he never could see the flagger! I have it all on video but can't seem to upload it...should be on "the wick" fb page, I'm nearest the camera on a KTM and Dowd is #16.
Did you steal any banners for me though??![]()
