Southwick National Aug 29

Hey, I know a lot of people said they wanted to head to Southwick for the nationals this year. Only a couple weeks away, 8/29/09. Figured I would start a thread if anyone wants to meet up. I think I'm heading out solo, but pretty positive I'll be there.

General admission is $35. I've never gotten pit passes so I'm not sure if they are worth it or not, I'm sure somebody here has and will chime in.

If you've never been, it is an awesome day of racing. You will not get closer to the racing than you will at this event (unless something has changed since last year). For those of us that did the Stimilon day, prepare to be embarassed, the pros will make us look like we were on mopeds.

I'd recommend bringing a folding chair and a camelback if you have one. You can plant yourself in the shade all day, or roam the entire track to watch from different spots. It's nice to be mobile i think.

i'm hitting up the national at Unadilla this wknd but if i can make Southwick as well, i'll let you know 'cause i'll prob be solo too. wife + dirt bikes = bored (how is that possible???)

Sarah and I will try to make it as well. As for the pit pass we got those 2 or 3 years ago. It was pretty cool because we got to hang out with John Dowd and talked with Travis Pastrana for a little while. However, if you've been to a local MX event it's pretty much the same with bigger trucks!

Spectator pit passes are only good until about noon and are pretty pricy. You need to know someone that is racing to get in the pit all day.

Mark, Did you check out the lighthouse at all saturday? I saw some 15+ foot waves off to the right.

Deep hole was all time sunday. 2X overhead glass. No storm.

I wanted to head down to the water but never got a chance. I heard it was pretty crazy.
I remember heading to the lighthouse in hurricane Bob back in 91 and not even being able to stand up in the wind.

Local weather is saying more winds + more rain with this weekends storm, but less surf as the storm will be coming up the coast rather than at the coast like last weekends storm
