    Started screwing tonight

Getting out of work at 11am tomorrow, the bike is in the back of the truck now and I'm heading rite from work to a pond at a friends house I took it on the small pond across from my house when I got home today, traction was pretty good and predictable but I remember my YZ450 getting more traction than the YZ400 i have now? The ice was like glass though unlike the ice I rode on last year, wheelies were instant once you hit the gas on the 450, this bike spins it up a little bit then the front wheel lofts up Feels good to be on the ice again though, I can imagine you northern folk have some thick ice now? It's 5" thick down here now already

They had a thing on the weather channel that said 10" of ice is safe to hold a full sized pickup truck as long as it stays below freezing. If that'll hold a 4-5k lbs vehicle, I'm sure 5" will hold a 3-400 lbs bike and rider

I saw a few people fishing and ice skating on the lake near me I also saw wha tlooked like 4 wheeler tracks probably with chains or screws.

I would feel safer myself if we had another full week of below freezing temps. Perhaps after the first of the year.

Man, I'm out of shape I just got home about 1/2 hour ago, what a kick ass time We chopped a hole in the ice and it was just over 6" thick but it was only a small pond. We had 2 dirtbikes and 2 utility 4x4 quads on it with no troubles. Things did warm up a bit and got a little slushy but it just made it all that much more fun

I was pretty happy with that older YZ400, the thing runs pretty freeken strong. Not quite as wheelie happy as the 450 I just sold was but still fun. I think I'm going to buy another bag of screws, I could probably use double what I have in the rear for sure

I have a few pictures, I'll get them up later

The thing that sucks about the camera is you never get any of yourself

The pond looks real small in the pictures but you can actually get in 3rd gear full throttle, pretty cool. And there's a woods section

I think I'm going to get some more studs and give the orange bike a try

Wish I could join ya this week but today is the only free day I'll have in quite a while. If you go, I would not go out on the ice alone for several reasons, be carefull out there

In the latest NETRA news there's an ad for a set of almost new 21/18" Trelleborgs (winter friction spikes) for $200, and a set of NEW 21/19" for $375. Those tires are the shit if you're into riding, and not just goofing on ice.
