damn, I'm going to be at buddies wedding in Mexico that week
World traveler!
ahaa
Lol! I think my eyes were as big as pancakes when I saw you comin at me. Couldn't see yours through all that mud, but I'm betting they were pretty wide open at that point!
sweet, hopefully I'll see you there and I'll have full gear and gas this time :hellyeah:
to everyone else: so assuming I can get my bike together, do they allow us to ride on the course a few times in advance to practice? are there any open practice days I can do?
my first CH ride was such an atrocity (not enough gas = stall, get on the pipe = uncontrollable) that I want a few trial runs before I pose as a hazard to myself and other riders...especially if MX338 is such a sandpit
There's a practice session in the morning. At this track, you just have to pin it to go anywhere on a 125. The sand will eat up all you momentum. Getting out of control is still possible, but it all comes to a stop pretty quickly and it's usually soft...or you might end up in a drainage pond. Lol.
I was more referring to the 4 guys that ended up in the drink at last year's event trying to make that off camber right down the hill in front of the bleachers on the hill. One guy never let off, drifted way off track, clipped the fence and highsided spectacularly.
I don't know what I'll do if it's dry this year. I've never raced there in the dry...
Hmmmmm..... wonder if I'll have a dirty toy in time for this.....
I don't think you understand...my riding ability is uncomfortably, disgracefully, exceptionally low...and not just in MX, just on dirt bikes in general. For example, I NEVER rode the RM with rear brakes, so I always rode it being half-ass on the gas and off the pipe. Here's an example of my ass-hat-ness when riding the RM:

Being WOT on a sandy course, trying to keep momentum is going to be tough for me, and I hardly think a morning practice session will do much to help.
But I am f'in psyched and I want do this :shredder:
So what I was hoping, is to start fresh on another date before Stimilon...and looking @ the MX338 schedule, there are two open practice dates on 3/27 (which will probably be a wash with the snow) and 5/15.
If I get my bike running, could I just show up on those days to see if I can even complete a lap?
oh yeah...and this could potentially make a cool NESR "rise of the dirt cycles" event.
So if I'm going to be out there looking like a epileptic seal, I'm calling out gamorg, othersean (bring the new 450!), R7, fasteddie, union, rambunctious, iglu, KB, netra709, 6fingers, DanK, chipper, biggity, gregp, stoneman (borrow R7's bike?), awesome, pittenger, kitt, tripletaco, TWheat, obsolete, GMD, RandyO, mysteriousR1, sheppo, black, and anyone else I can't find a s/n for that rides dirty!
you're thinking too much... when in doubt, gas it. :drink:
I sucked big time last year, but still had an aawesome time and can't wait to do it again. Trust me, most of the people in your classes will be just like you/me.
Bahvesh,I have a few ideas for sandy trails to practice on. Once the state parks open for the season in MA, we'll seek out some sand. I haven't fully decided to race Stimilon yet. I had planned to switch to a bigger bike before doing a sand race. My extra weight doesn't slow the 125 down much in the woods. In deep sand it's a different story.
I might just buy a Fatty pipe for the YZ and go for it.
Fuck I got called out!!!!
Better show up!
KB
eddie: that sounds like a plan...I'd like to hit as many sand pits or tracks as possible before going...and the RM is way better suited than the XR for that duty
biggity: you can't lump you and I into the same category, trust me
mark: you won't suck as long as I'm there! still got dirty wheels for that WR? Kurlon's bringing a WR too!
KB: bring a KX/CR/RM 500. I also recommend wearing a diaper, as those bikes cause your bowels to suddenly pass and fly out when riding
just ordered my Pirelli MXS rear tire. I asked for the one that goes the right direction at Southwick.
hahaa, nice! :spit:
can I follow you? I guarantee that I will be lost!
there is zero chance my bike will be running by 3/27, so I'm hoping to make it to the practice session 2 weeks before stimilon on 5/15
