There are no rocks at Southwick, so handgaurds and chest protector aren't necessary. Hand gaurds CAN save your levers in a crash.
I wear a chest & back protector just in case I go down and get hit. My friend is in a wheelchair because he endo'ed in the old gravity-cavity and his forks hit him in the back.
I'm planning on putting wrap around bark busters with guards on, but I'm also paranoid about my hands.
i run guards too but i dont think Paul, Squirrel, Justin, 6 Finger or DDK ran them in past years. didnt hear any complaints. seems like preference mostly. there is a lot of sand chucked at you
(ive always liked clean and protected controls though, track or trail)

ok, I'm adding tear offs/roll offs "wtb" list this weekend
I also bought a new air filter last year and washed it, but the dirt that collects from the filter oil makes it look 100 years oldf it...1 cleaned/oiled filter for 8 motos should imho, be enough
would they have a problem with me bringing the XR200R, not riding it, and leaving a "for sale" sign on it? seems like there'd be high enough traffic of dirt bike nuts to advertise
edit: crap...I should really get a new rear inner tube, chain, and sprockets by tomorrow...and a mid pipe rubber damper/mount; this weekend will require some serious preventative maintenance to make sure she's in tip top shape

Main reason I asked is because I have the wrap around bark buster type handguards (need to be installed but I have them) but I have this recollection, from the NEMX race at Southwick that a friend of mine ran, that hanguards that wrap around weren't allowed on track. Might just be an NEMX rule but wouldn't want to have them on and get there only to have to take them off.
@breakdirt - advertising the XR would be fine. there will be pit bikes riding around everywhere, vendor tents, random bikes, random drunks on ATCs... hahaa. pretty loose deal as long as you're not stupid (pit racing, burning shit, etc.)
@tls25rs - i run wrap-around Cycras (aluminum/plastic), no issue at Southwick last year and no issues at Crow Hill or Rocky Hill ever either. it's probably just be an NEMX race rule

side note: look into the NoToil system. best thing ever. soooo easy to do filter maintenance when you can do it right in the kitchen sink... or your washer! need to start with a new filter though, it doesnt jive with standard oil. all bio products
no more gas or sprays to clean... can dump the dirty leftover shit right in the grass. love it.
Beta 200RR
I'm already on the no-toil train. I just need to learn the right amount of oil to use when re-applying... first filter cleaning I think I used half the bottle... that thing dripped out of my airbox drain for weeks...
you'll get a feel for when it's got the right coverage.
i lightly drizzle all over in a swirl pattern on outside and inside then use my thumbs and finger to work it/knead all through. if you pinch the filter and you're getting big oozes... too much is on there... you want a light coating.
speaking of this stuff... i tried out a LoudMouth MX intake last season, really nice unit if your filter cage is a tough one to seat. filter just snaps on the intake flange then you synch down a band clamp. done. works great in tight spaces. (kinda pricey though)

I'll most likely bring the XR then, thanks T1
if anyone doesn't want to buy a new pack of tear-offs, take half of mne for $5 since motorsports int'l only had a 20 pack of the scott tear-offs for $10 and I def. won't use them all

Well, me being a dumb ass forgot to register before the cut off. Looks like I'll have to register day of, if they do that.
we burned on the way outI was having a blast on the sweepers. did my first few stoppies too!
played it safe but got in some good seat time, im loving that little 2stroke
was bummed I had to cut it short, work week bearing down on me... great riding with you guys
Beta 200RR
oh, and, no sweat on the roost, good primer for next weekend
i'm psyched!
Beta 200RR
yes, you're very consistent with the drift/slalom bit, good practice to try and stick your lines.
the stoppies were fun... just holding the brake on a hair longer starts to loft the rear end. in the past i was only extending the suspension under heavy breaking then letting off, yesterday the rear was up. now to perfect and do some long nose wheelies!

More info will follow on the website so please check the UPDATES tab often this week as more things come about. The race order and schedule of events (as best we can tell) should be up by tomorrow on the site.
Also - you probably have slacker friends who want to get in on this event. We are taking day of registration and all that info will be on the website shortly as well. Please follow us on twitter @stimilon for updates from the track including when classes sell out, and special events happening over the weekend.
Thanks
davo
PS - I am happy to answer any questions that you have, but please check the website first - thoroughly! I am not saying everything you want to know in life is there, but most things for this weekend are. If not let me know and we will get you dialed. thanks
