I have a KDX 200 In the garage I can Bring We dont care if you break it.
really appreciate it but i'd rather blow the TC up than break anyones ride. my wife said to just go blow it up :D
Wirelessly posted
Nah, dude. My bike is yours to ride. It's so neutral handling you'll feel at home in one lap. No worries about breaking shit.
ive been studying internal pics and reading up on various failures to learn... gonna just run it.
if i hear / feel anything funny, i'll park it. i have faith she will do fine. pretty positive it's not main bearing related, prob one of the bearing keepers from the rear portion of the motor. it must have sheared and shot directly at the drain magnet to not have much damage or metal in the screens. the plate must still be in there though, along with the bolt shaft. hittin' Church in the AM, hahaa.
still gonna rip the motor apart afterward though.
My first guess, after being inside a Husky motor a few times, was exactly what you think it is. There are a ton of the bearing retainers and associated hardware in the motor. Everything from the main bearings to the trans bearings has them. Hopefully you got/get lucky and the retaining clip itself attaches itself to your drain plug or gets caught in one of the screens.

thanks, Joel. ran into a few of your posts while reading through main bearing failure threads last night. ray_ray and macwood had great pics of the the internals. helped me understand where a bunch of them are and how they're fastened.
i have a feeling it's one of the retainers from the trans side. the big question is where that retainer is hangin out. i'm thinking even if the gears eat it, or shoot it down like the bolt head, it prob won't be catastrophic. big hopes right there. if it is the trans side, i would assume i'll feel it or hear some grinding and shut her down.
ran it up and down the road last night through the gears, bounced it off the rev limiter, etc. nothing. i can spy the oil through that 7602 cover too, will keep an eye out for metal.
guess this bike was due for a tear down anyway, we've had ~6 good seasons together. cant wait to drop the oil after this weekend.
We don't need no steenking retaining bolts. This is STIMILON!
Feed it some 'Gansett and it will be good to go!
Biggity! Are you coming to hold down the fort and protect the gansetts while we are on track?
I wish.
Got MSF this weekend :frown:
heavy drinking commenced at oh 7 hundred hours ... all is right in the world
so who's getting there when? think i'll be wrapped with work by noon or so then need to button up bike and pack.
EDIT: funny story. wake up at 6AM, wife rolls over and says, "aren't you getting up to go fix your bike?" ... i laugh ... "can't do that now, i need to split the motor" ... "you cant finish that before you go?"
I'm shooting for 5:00, register, set up pit, trackwalk, dinner? The gate closes at 10pm, so If we go out to eat it has to be earlyish.
I have to work till midnight friday night so I'll be knocking on the gate at 6:30am. I've never been to the wick. Save me a pit spot? Where will you guys be?
saw the edit... you're right, time goes quick so dinner a little earlier would be better. i'll aim for 5.
Smutty, we will be on the highest ground in the paddock. More or less right in the middle. Spot saved. Are you bringing a canopy?
My brother is leaving his work in Vernon, CT and headed right to the track. So he'll probably be there right around 6pm or so
cool, i'll drop him a note on the FB
I'll have my "travel" box.
Sweet. Off to buy oil I go... Is anyone bringing a grill?
If anyone has any spare H1-R, I'm down to my last quart...
If you're not a brand snob, I have some leftover smoker oil you can have...
Heh, so far I have been, just because the bike's been running well consistently and I don't want to change anything. :D I've got a pint of Yamalube 2R, and a quart of Amsoil's syth goo as backup, but I am a full on brand snob. :D
Edit: I've got to remember to switch gas cans today too, d-oh!
I have nothing for you... ;)
