I know the race happen a bit ago. Just watch the rerun tonight.
MAAAN! That race was about the most intense battle for 1 and 2 that
I have seen in any kind of racing. In practice even they were staring
each other down jaw to jaw while riding. Each trying to play that psych
game on each other. When the race was over they were still at it!
James Stewart and Chad Reed were ON each other for like 10 laps straight.
Till James just out lasted him.
Chad has really picked up his game and James is just James...
absolutely amazing how he rides.
Anyone else following this series? If not you should!
Its down to the wire. 3 races left, Stewart down by just five.
Seattle this weekend on CBS.

watched it today, was a awesome race ended up being 20mins to work so i could watch it till the end.
ya I was psyched to see them mixing it up...but I think james pulled away from him more than 'outlasted' him. I think reed was starting to revert to his old bitchy self as well![]()

Am I the only one that had the following thought cross his/her mind............James is F'ing with Reed, he's definitely faster around Jacksonville but he is letting Reed lead for a while to get his hopes up about being able to run with James and then at the end he is going to dash those hopes on the track and pull away without issue..................from my perspective that is what I saw. It looked as though James caught up to and passed Reed then screwed with him a little bit running him deep in a couple of corners and parking it and then he seemingly accelerated off into the distance at which point Reed tried to keep up and almost crashed a couple of times.
I would be willing to bet that there are a whole lot of head games going on right now between the two of them that should make the last few races interesting to say the least.

eh. i'd agree if this was the first race of the season, but there's only 3 left and james is still behind. while he is a tremendous rider, he's proved a couple times this season he can crack under the pressure of being in second place and while its close to impossible, even james can ride over his head if reed gets too much of a lead. f i was in stewarts shoes, i'd be looking to create the biggest gap possible and be able to ride my own race.
i do think stewart is better than reed... but i don't think stewart is so good he can play games with reed. after all, he is still in second in the championship.

ya I agree with both of you...Reed wasn't in his league at jacksonville but the championship could still be Reeds for sure, its not a show in either way. As long as Stewart stays up these last few the championship is his to give away IMO (eventhough he isn't even leading the points yet)

Stewart was toying with reed, no question at all. That was the smartest thing Stewart could have done was hold back and "read" how reed was riding, then move in for the kill.
Remember, if Stewart doesn't crash, he wins...so all he has to do is not crash for the last races and he owns the championship![]()
Yamaha
agreed, its his to give away. if reed can get better starts, he "could" take it all. stewart has shown his ass a couple time trying to catch reed and paid the price. even though reed is the current champ.... i can't imagine he's playing with the same level of pressure as stewart. reed is expected to be very competitive against the best, stewart is expected to be the best, if that makes sense.

don't get me wrong, i think he'll do, and i want him to; as much like yourself, i'm a yamaha fan. just trying to be a realist and say the possibility for reed to pull it off is there. i haven't done the math, but i'm guessing if reed finishes ahead of stewart once and completes the other two races in the points, its a done deal. either way, this is by far one of the best series to be watching right now and i was disappointed with a weekend off.

I want him to win as well but think he was better off on Kawi![]()

I'm guessin the guys at Kawi are kicking themselves right about now (and probly have been since the first couple races). Stewart is faster than Reed. Period. There have been a couple tracks where Stewart has had to push pretty hard, but a couple of those crashes have been shitty luck. Daytona, the grass on the start straight? And I the last one he didn't win, grabbed neutral on the face of the dragon's back; that happens to everyone, and there's NO WAY to save it.
Kawi was my first bike......I am a Kawi fan, even though i ride a suzuki now.....i have no idea why kawi would let him go...dumb on their part, The daytona race was a lucky win for reed.....stewart crashed, came thru the field and caught up to him and dumped again, would have been one of the best comebacks/ride i have ever seen if he could have pulled off the win. Reed also looked like he was trying to take stewart out at Jack in my opinion at a couple turns......
Yeah I dont think Stewart was playing with him that much. The reason I think this is that he was getting
outta shape at times while following.
I think actually that Chad was trying to play a mind game with Stewart with the stares and the mouthing off before and
after the race but I think he underestimates Stewart's toughness. Chad's psyche game is gonna blow up in his face, me thinks.
Stewart will walk away in the last three races is my bet.
Man, if Stewart can get consistent and also be blazing fast he may even eclipse Carmichael. What do you all think?
2008 Honda CBR 600RR
I think that was Stewart's most mature ride to date. I don't really think he was "toying" with Reed as much as he has finally learned a lesson from the guy. You have to stay on two wheels to win. Chad knows how to do that. Stewart should follow him more often. He will understand that you only need to run the risky pace long enough to win.
Rossi has understood this since he was like 12. Stewart has been living in a bubble thinking he has nothing to learn from anyone. WRONG.
Wow, this thread blew up over night!
I have to agree with Paul's point of Stewart needs to mature a little and realize that balls to the wall all the time is not always the way to victory. Push hard and then maintain the gap and you will win more races.
Didn't Kawi let Stewart go in the hopes that Villipoto, who was running times as fast if not faster than the guys on 450s on his 250, would take over where Stewart was and lead them to the top step of the podium?
Joel
probably came down to $$ and all that...I don't think they had the throught of RV 'replacing' stewarts presense but still. Sucks RV hasn't had a full season in, he's one of my favorite riders and another year or two and he is either dominating or gonna become another kevin windham (always up there, but never leading).

Would have been a nasty duo of stewart/villapoto
i know its spelt wrong
^ ha I always do that...I think its Villipoto, too lazy to search though. Nevermind their slew of lites riders. I wonder who they might try to keep up through 450 ranks...my guess would maybe be Weimer but who knows, they all rip
