Does it matter the firmness of a tire for use with Ice Screws?
My Thoughts were to go with a Hard for two reasons.
1. Strength of rubber is tougher and should hold a better grip with screw?
2. I want an even amount of traction running in corners and on straights, so harder should hold the profile better!
Correct me, or teach me!

Rumor has it that the exchange rate with Canadian funds is favorable at this time as well.
If you don't want to buy them made then use the same tires they use.
Exchange rate is good! US dollar= 1.327 CA
Not bad, but still a little more than I was planning on spending.
What tires do they use?
I'M going with your standard gold ice screws and a hard motocross, or mud tire. The last time I did this I was very impressed with the grip and as long as you stay away from pavement and solid dirt trails, they seems to last!

I have no idea as I am still pretty anti marcel. Those tires chew the ice too fast, and don't require any real skill to ride as the have virtually unlimited traction.
The fredette ama tires are normally built on the kendas, but for recreational riding, I had Fredette build me a tire on the tractionator. Still requires some actual skills to slide as you definitely can find the limit, but it works better as the ice gets chipped up as the knobs are longer and hold less screws. (more screws is good for clean ice, bad for snow)
Yeah I'm not 100% anti marcel but as someone who has a normal canadian front and an AMA rear (when I do get out) the marcel's are not high on my list. Once the guys with them get out there they make so much snow that my tires don't have all that much grip anymore. Don't get me wrong sliding around on my tires is fun and like you said I likely learn more when sliding but it would be nice to be able to try to hang with the guys with the marcels for more than a corner or two.
I built tires a coupe years back with a Kenda K335 Ice rear tire. You can get a crap load of screws in it. It was a while ago now, but I think I had like 1000 screws in the rear tire alone...
Skip the Gold screws...Kold Kutters are where its at.

Tires and kold Cutter's being picked up tomorrow.
Found a Duramax tire relatively inexpensive with a great dual sport tread that will hold a lot of screw's
Thanks for the input guy's!
Hope to have some fun soon on some ice! Haven't done this in year's!!
