Nice. Alredy heard back from the 200EXC owner.
Gonna get some pix to get an overall idea of the bike & its condition.
Also asked about what it would take to get registered & inspected in MA

Got pix... No blinkers or tail light.
The guy said "You can always leave the Vermont plate on it, for the occasional street use" which leads me to believe it's just got a shady VT plate on it.
So just to make sure I responded with "Is it titled and registered to you? Leaving it plated in VT would mean not titling it, registering it or getting it inspected and insured under my name. Looking to do this by the book."
We'll see what he says.

I'm pretty sure Vermont doesn't issue titles for under 300cc? Not sure about Mass, but in RI his current registration would work as a title. I'd check into it though.
For what it's worth, his "other" bike listed is a great deal IMO
Yamaha
And I rode an 02 200EXC for a bit while I was in Finland last month, it seemed pretty peppy and had some good down low power for the tight stuff

Titled, lights, two stroke ease of maint, 4 stroke grunt. What's not to like?
Looking for SMALL TO MEDIUM.
Small enough to possibly teach the girl to ride on and not beat the hell outta me in the woods. Medium enough to ride on the street around town.

Can I re-emphasize how awesome the exc300 is? It'll chug like a 4t, and then as soon as you need power, whack it, and instant liftoff. I have just figured out what I've been missing all these years. If it's a woods bike primarily, the motor should last quite a while between top ends. If you can find one, and swing it, I'd imagine the excw is an unbelievable all arounder.
The thing really is like cheating after coming off the lc4, it's effortless to ride in the woods.

I hear that. Just sent an email inquiring about an '01 250EXC. Asking 2g's. Says street legal and mint. Loooked nice in the pics but I didn't see any lights.

I think if you have a VT PO box you can get any bike plated there, residency not required

It's all rigged. With an oem muffler, and a cheap ass chain guard, you should be able to get this thing street legal no prob. (strictly for initial inspection by the staties) I think maybe gregp on here, and I'll be looking for the real lowdown on street legalizing offroad only bikes.

2003 KTM 450 exc racing dirt bike for sale. Runs well, shifts well. Hydraulic clutch. Great compression. Mechanically it needs nothing. Electric start. Pro taper bars, factory connection suspension. Clarke 3.5 gal tank. Scotts stabilizer. Power now carb. Needs cosmetics and graphics. Battery is a year old but dead. Tires are about 50%. Has been ridden twice in the past two years. Just put in new rear wheel bearings, clutch cover gasket and grips. Bike is not street legal, never ridden on the road. Never titled. Never registered for road use or MA EPA. Come take it for a ride. I have lost all interest in riding. Priced for quick sale. First $1400 takes it home. Please email me with your replys. Picture below is NOT my bike but very similar.

Oh yeah, I saw that ad. The prick put a picture of some bike that's clearly street legal, then says it's not his and *his* bike isn't street legal.

IMO, having the paperwork (*current* valid VT street registration will do) is much more important than having the physical electro-mechanical components. Most who advertise "street legal" will be missing many of the required components anyway. My current KDX200 had a hacked up Baja Designs kit half-assed installed, but it had a good VA title, so I bought it. It took me a couple of hours to purchase the missing components (mirror, hydraulic front brake switch, etc.), but a bit more time to completely strip the kit and start over. I even found ways to improve on the original BD installation instructions, and get rid of the battery all together.
I have registered *many* dirt bikes through VT, the valid VT registration can then easily be converted to MA (complete with title application - and another $50). All it takes is money.
