    Thrill & Chill

Anyone up for something like this? Seems like it could be fun, I was even thinking the big bike adventure ride?
It's a bit close to me to camp out, but even that sounds like it could get fun

Perhaps the dual sport event, I have no interest in the turkey run but the dirt road/ pavement might be fun .

why pay money to ride behind a bunch of bikes?

how about bring your own lunch and gas and or just stop somewhere for lunch?

best if all your not stuck behind a bunch of bikes and in my case per usual i'm not behind anyone.

mark did you get a adv bike?

well there is a steak dinner, and a full breffis included in the fee as well as some entertainment. Plus you get to camp if you like,
besides I can ride all by my self when ever I want to, but you aren;t going to meet people to ride with if you only ride alone .

do you need to be plated for the "turkey runners" event?

edit: I read the flyer...I'm out

what's the difference between an adventure bike and an enduro bike anyways?

    Re: Thrill & Chill

Sean, do you want to do both days? The start location is only 15-20 minutes from my house, we can either camp there or come back to my house?
I'd like to ride both days, i'm sure it will be fun and hopefully learn some new roads to add to my little dualsport/supermoto loop
My plan is to run a Supermoto (SXV or KTM) unless there is rain the day of or the day before

typically an ADV bike is a larger displacement like the Bww gs 650 or 1200, ktm 650 or 990 , klr 650 honda transalp, suzuki dr650, or vstrom 650/1000
    there are more .
an enduro bike is more like a street registered dirt bike or an off road "woods bike" that has become street leagal .
suzuki drz400, kawasaki klx250s , most of the ktms, yamaha wr250R , etc....

And mark, we can do both days. If you want to camp, we can use my trailer, wifey has other plans that weekend so she won;t be attending , there is an extra place to sleep .

then we don't have to get up extra early on sunday to get there for breffis.

maybe we can talk Bob into it .

Crap... if it wasn't right before our trackdays, I would definitely consider this.

I finally got the KLR all outfitted with hard bags etc...

I've stopped doing activities right before trackdays... always end up getting hurt.

For dirt rides, I take Renee's KLX250s. Works fine for the speeds I go these days.

I'll be on my wr250r doing the big big ride, I may find out otherwise but of the few "dual sport" group rides i have been on in the past , I have always been happier on my wr than my honking huge v strom espesially when its anything but a dirt road . I have made it through some nasty crap on the vstrom but it wasn;t much fun .
From the sounds of this event the big bike ride will be tame and shouldn't produce any injuries , but I guess one never knows .

Sean, you want to pre-enter to save $10 or post enter? I'm thinking using the post enter option and figure the extra 10 bux as rain insurance? I've got beer if it rains...lots of it

plus like you say its rain insurance, I have had my fair share of wet riding this year already.
what time should I be at your place ?
figure we can load your bike in the trailer , wifey has plans for the weekend with a friend .

Sign up starts at noon on Saturday and I'm guessing the camping lot will fill well before that? How does be at my place by 9am, load my crap and be there by 10-10:30? Give us time to set up camp and scope the area out a bit?

    Re: Thrill & Chill

I'm exhausted and in a little pain...good times, good times

Just got done cleaning the SXV and prepping it for a trackday Tuesday when I noticed a golf ball sized lump on my leg. There was a stick sticking out in the trail that jambed into my leg where the boot stops and the riding pants start..off all the luck
I've got some pictures and I'm sure Sean has many more, but I'm to whooped to download them and resize

    Re: Thrill & Chill

    long and short of it

saturday moring we set up camp, got registered and inspected , headed out on a pavement ride to the razees open house for a free lunch , then back to the field , it was HOT and muggy , dinner wasn't for several hours and we weren;t doing the trail ride part so we rode to marks house so he could get some cooler gear .

Sat night the steak dinner was really good, they had a huge charcol grill going , you pick out your own raw steak and cook it your self so there is no bitching if it wasn't cooked right. then you go back in for the side dishes.
they don;t skimp on food .
there wa sa band playing which was cool . we bought some raffle tickets , mark won a pair of riding pants , I ended up with a Moose racing banner to hang in the garage .

We hung out had a few beers launched a few potatoes into the darkness .

sunday breakfast was provided and was once again pleantifull and pretty good eating.

short riders meeting and we were off .
This was my first time following a roll chart . it was interesting as my speedo is way off as I have geared down .
we only missed a few turns here and there but eventually found the way

I'm too lazy to repost the pics so I will link it to ADV

    Re: Thrill & Chill

Nice write up and pictures Sean
I was surprised when we saw that pie plate mile marker on the ride back to my house Saturday.

    Section G
2.0 XXXXX around gate. Go! to
2.6 Keep left... was brutal for me.

That soft sand and motard rubber don't mix to well. Tried to stay on the gas but just ended up shooting roost and plowing the front. I swear i was on the ground a few times but never stopped...as I heard the riders behind me laughing.

    Section E

    7.5 XXXXX road drops off!
    Got skills? We will see.
    7.8 Bear right
    8.2 Bear left
    9.7 BRDR Quinn Hill
    did you make it?

Was also a tricky one, all those puddles had soupy bottoms

I'm going to get a route sheet holder and learn this route a little better, even some really cool sportbike roads I had no idea existed
