That is sexy. It will be a wheelie machine with the 13. It will not go very fast on an open section though.

rock 'n roll ! it really is sexxxy, but funny how similar to my '13 it is ... size wise sitting, it doesn't feel all that different. lifting to stand and rolling around, def lighter. feels a tiny bit skinnier as well but this is just quick yard circle. haven't had time to zip around just yet.

not sure but gonna give the 13T a try, i'm OK with a super-goat, 6 gears = many anyway.

on the 250, 1st is kinda ridiculous, but in the slow climbs, money. when the 250 was stock with 13/49 it was stupid fast in the open, 13/50 ate the top but never missed it all that much on our usual. time will tell on this little motor. the 15T stock is still very strange to me. we don't have much open out here.

You should run it stock before swapping everything from the 250 over.

hear ya, dying to just rip it but i don't want any wear or even dirt on the new parts that are swapping back to the 250.

gonna suck if i hate the bike but i'm all in at this point ... 2020's will be here soon, keeping the 200/250 in view over the next year.

i can't deal with all the extra shit that comes on these 'enduro' bikes ... awesome that they do, but i don't personally need any of it. lean 'n mean is always the goal ... everything i'm removing i'll be able to re-install if i want to later on. going with the race harness this time so lights, injection, etc will all be easy to swap back in.

    Re: typeone's Beta build (200RR)

i must say that everything so far has been very tidy though.

few thoughts as i've been tearing down:

    - bummed i lost the awesome side tranny drain, loved that from day one with the 250. now i need to drop the skid for oil changes like a regular bike. booooo
    - front skid bolt is dumb, very hard to reach behind pipe
    - P3 pipe guard is gorgeous and fits super mint, nice werk, team
    - Excel rims are a nice bonus, older models had generic but still stout, never had an issue or even a loose spoke
    - black spokes/stainless nipples are sexy as hell
    - horn relocate was a nice move but i will be axing regardless
    - axles had a nice coating of grease unlike my '13
    - Italian Popeye put my rear axle nut on. you go, son!
    - featherweight lithium-ion battery stock, smart

EDIT: they got smarter with the switches, easy unplug if you don't use lights 'n signals. still deleting but so far it's been betterer.

i have no idea what that mess is on the left side, my '13 didn't have any of that.

wrapped the rest of my work list, 3 heat cycles complete, first real ride later today. can't wait!

...but i fucked up pretty good first thing Sat AM and snapped the front brake line just after the banjo while fitting my EE handguards. smooth moov, cracked it right open at the bend new line on order, gonna borrow the 250 line for now.

replacement radiator arrived but it was for an XTrainer, got the correct replacement super fast. i'll throw that on once i score more Engine Ice.

    Re: typeone's Beta build (200RR)

    observations:

    - 13T is WAY too aggressive, i ran out of gears immediately, Paul was right
    - motor is typical Beta-smooth and stall resistant
    - clawed up hills with ease
    - i did miss the low RMP torque of the 250, that thing is dialed
    - bike feels light and flickable for sure, crazy good time
    - feels physically bigger than my WR165
    - ergos are very familiar except the shift lever, it's cramped
    - jetting is super, duper crisp
    - played with powervalve to get more snap, nope, it wants to be smoooth 'n woodsy
    - didn't have to fan clutch for power
    - suspension felt pretty damn good with stock settings and .42/5.2 springs, glad i didn't go up a rate yet
    - it was swampy as hell ... goggle war
    - i do not like riding without handgards

round Two on our local stash tomorrow

round Two was eye opening ... not only for my lack of seat time but this little fucking thing can C R A W L ... did 11mi of local slow single with some tricky stuff, bottom end is extremely impressive. it barks like a 250 but has no real bite, just chew which requires some adjustment on my part.

14T arrives Fri ... October Mtn test Sat

    Re: typeone's Beta build (200RR)

14/49 was a massive success, gearing is perfect for what we ride, October Mtn was a great test. absolutely amazed by this little motor ... BUT, some more teething discomfort.

after a semi-slow climb we stopped to chat and i heard boiling. assumed it was coolant but may have been gas (?) bike ran perfectly all day, did 30mi in ~3hrs, mix of slow tech and dirt connector roads almost topped out. (def lost top-end speed with 14T). bike never winced once, had maximum enjoy.

after the 2hr drive home, bike was cold, cracked the rad cap and had pressure. when i dropped the coolant it was black as night. sad face, the usual Beta head o-ring + t-stat issue i assumed. dealer was super responsive. i chose to delete the thermostat with a Samco hose kit and replace all the o-rings in the head (x3). but while waiting for the parts i ran into a post where a few new owners were having similar issues, Beta responded by saying to dump the OEM coolant and refill with the coolant of your choice. problem solved for some people. how odd. apparently the rad manufacturer may not have rinsed well enough leaving 'dust' in the system (?) no clue but for some that's all they did to cure the issue.

also ran into a few posts talking about the new style check valve under the gas cap, apparently those are shite and don't work so well, the trick is to just remove it, which i've done. in it's place i went with a check valve like my 250 came with which is placed inline on the gas cap vent hose. i could have left it, but i don't want fuel dumping everywhere when i eat it. the boil/bubbling i heard may have just been some minor pressure in the tank. i never thought to crack the gas cap open. also had amazing gas milage for the day so the system wasn't getting pressurized and pushing out the carb. never saw tank bloat either.

i always wreck perfectly good shit as soon as i acquire it anyway so none of this bothers me but hopefully the teething issues are over. motor has fresh Amsoil (which was overfilled again like my 250) and the cooling system will get a proper distilled+vinegar douching this evening. fingers x'd she's good to go after this wknds ride.

    some pics:

freight co dented the left rad, replacement arrive quick

color of coolant when i drained it

color of coolant after 2 day rest, the stuff on the bottom ended up being whitish, like milky ash

fresh left rad + t-stat delete hose kit

gas vent (red thing) and hour meter installed

but man "absoultely amazed by this little motor"

kinda like what people said about the KDX in the 90's/2000's?

right, how weird. the bike ran perfectly fine so who knows. the pressure wasn't super high, but i've known of the o-ring/t-stat issue so had that in mind. might not be related at all.

on the KDX comparison, yes and no. riders with lots of KDX experience say this motor is miles ahead. all i know is it felt like i was riding my 250 at October, totally forgot, except for the weight.

been awhile since I've been in a smoker motor, but isn't the coolant in a separate water jacket/pathway? no potential mixing with transmission fluid?

not positive on all the places contamination could occur but assumptions are water pump seal and head o-rings (?) i had no oil contamination in coolant or coolant in oil, just shit looking coolant and a bit of pressure. the common issue of the past was inferior head o-rings that would allow combustion pressure to seep into the cooling system. fix was new o-rings and t-stat body. my buddy had this issue and it has never returned after a simple o-ring swap. he never installed the new t-stat Beta sent, still no issue.

the black color could just be the manufacturing 'dust' and the pressure could have simply been an improper bleed. no clue. this bike has a bleed screw on the head and a different fill/bleed process than my 250. perhaps it wasn't burped properly? not sure. the dealer did open the rad cap while it was running when i picked it up... BUT, i did open the cap after the second ride to check. all looked normal although i did hear a tiny, tiny pfffft.

no temp monitoring, these bikes seem to run fairly cool with Engine Ice or Evans for coolant. no overflow container but there is an overflow hose that leads to the ground.

the good thing is i'll know right away if the issue is fixed after 1. the full douche tonight, can check for pressure and 2. after the next ride, can check for discoloring. i'm not going to swap the head o-rings just yet. some dealers are saying do one thing at a time, starting with a simple flush. i don't have any use for the t-stat so that's the only reason i removed it. worked fine on my 250, removed that one as well just to simplify the bike.

so do you think valve not working = tank can't breathe = vacuum?

i don't know where the boil sound was coming from, made a KTM joke and hit the trail again

success ... did 25mi of slow tech in swampy conditions, no boil sounds, no pressure in rad, coolant is nice crystal blue. how weird, coolant change alone was the ticket, i didn't do the head o-rings.

broken record but this motor is total magic. i can't get over it. upper HVD piss/water break. man the air was THICK
