cool, thanks, Joel. now i'm gonna have to pull it to see what the center grommet does, the sides look identical.

how do you like filter changes with that setup? i've hated filter changes on almost all bikes, nervous of sand dropping in the boot even though i'm a fruit about trying to be clean ... the best airbox/filter setup i had was putting a LoudMouth on my 4T (Italian) Husky. stupid simple and secure.

EDIT: i see now the 'grommet' in middle is just a cap to protect the filter from the cage. it's shaped like an X with a high spot in middle and barbs on ends. so essentially exactly the same as KTM/Husky except for the filter style. the Beta manual doesn't show the center cap.

They are not terrible but getting the pin of the cage seated in the grommet in the back can be tough sometimes but not a big deal.

although we can't deny the sex of the vivid photography, I also enjoy the reading as you reverse-engineer the bike's setup and modify it to your likings. We're getting an explanation of what we're looking at in the photos and dissecting the mind of the engineers who made it. And now I can't un-see those engineering details when I look at other bikes, and frankly I don't hate it. Captions matter.

The bike is absolutely stunning as-is, but it looks like any black accent will blend in well with the rims, swingarm, and subframe. Frame guards will be a natural transition along the bottom.

Also glad to see more grease and thread locker from the factory! And the triangle space above the head looks like you can rent out to a tenant...I have seen "busy" triangles and glad this is a little less crowded.

I liked the side air filter access as it was "easier" to pull out to clean. Hopefully it's not a design flaw that could lead to issues down the road though...air box under the seat has been a somewhat tried and true setup...but they could have gone this way for a reason. Euro was always looking ahead to innovate.

    Can't wait for more updates!

I’ve got 6-7 miles of trails on my property if you need a place to ride pre-opening season, of course there will be a second set of eyes drooling over the squeaky clean new bike.. lol

I feel the same way about my 200 XC. I was very paranoid about owning a euro bike like this. But this "pumpkin" has been a pleasure to own and I just do not want to part with it. I grin every time I climb aboard it.

It’s a passion, I said I’d never own an Italian sportbike, and I’ve had 2 so far and love my current Tuono. The bright side with owning these Italians, you get to meet a lot of new people, like tow truck drivers and roadside assistance techs

yeah, i'm joking around, although not on the GasGas, the MC-E/MC50 are sweet bikes but we've been looking at them all ... we've seen a kid at Crow Hill a few times on the EE 5, that thing is badass. i'm not really sure where to go next with them, right on the brink.

perfect size motor for New England, do not sell ! we should hook up at Hop-Ev this season, i haven't been there in ages.

the '19 was the test mule, now we implement our findings

    ---

didn't have much time tonight but got the following checked off:

    - removed a few more switches
    - got the stock Metzelers off in prep for Tubliss + Kendas
    - Hammerhead shift lever
    - 14T sprocket on
    - 49T sprocket off
    - shock out, etc.

i was pumped to see they improved how the harness is routed from the frame to subframe. you can actually tilt the tail up for service now, zero binds. previous years you had to remove the main ground and unbolt a mount point or you'd stress the harness. even then, it was kinda sketchy and i rarely tilted the tail, was easier to just remove. way cleaner layout now.

I haven't either! I didn't buy a sticker last year and basically didn't ride at all. I ran around the yard a couple times, but never went beyond that.
Tires on the bike now went to hatfield in 2018!

    Re: typeone's Beta build (200RR)

build is finally done bike feels awesome. maiden voyage yesterday, had a great rip with the boys, can't wait for the next one.. .

    final deets:

    swapped from the '19
    - '13 bars
    - MME clutch lever
    - ARC brake lever
    - WC anodized lever clamps
    - WC anodized steering stem nut
    - front and rear disc guards
    - Fastway/Stillwell linkage guard
    - Scalvini silencer (+ refurb / repack ... what a bitch this was to get cleaned up and mounted)
    - P3 expansion chamber guard
    - Hammerhead shift lever
    - Hammerhead brake tip
    - EE bark busters
    - jetted + modded PWK carb
    - RK Tek head insert
    - SKF fork sliders
    - Dirt Tricks 48T sprocket
    - 5.4kg Cannon shock spring
    - XTrig preload adjuster
    - EarthX lithium battery

    fresh mods
    - removed all extra wire and switches (still want to gut harness)
    - modded and moved start/stop switch to left
    - 0.2mm base gasket (down from 0.55!), squish = 1mm
    - NGK iridium plug gapped down a tad
    - had Aaron at AMP work over the front and rear suspension
    - revalved front and rear
    - .44kg fork springs
    - JBI Pro Perch
    - aluminum free piston
    - N2Dirt shock compression adjuster
    - low friction piston band
    - Kenda IBEX front and rear
    - HD tube up front
    - Tubliss rear
    - ditched banjo switches for aluminum banjos
    - ProTaper loc-on grips
    - red Zeta flags mounted to EE guards
    - black fork guards
    - R-Tech front MX plate
    - R-Tech chain guide
    - blue Samco hose kit with tstat delete
    - blue 7602 rad braces + front guards
    - Acerbis gripper frame guards
    - painted blue plastic tank cover black
    - removed internal tank vent, installed in-line vent
    - Motoseat gripper cover
    - removed rear enduro fender extension (planning to mod this to get nice handles back)
    - DID MX non-oring chain
    - 14T ProX sprocket

the chassis def feels more roomy, only turned bar clamp to forward position but kept in middle slots. the '19 required a bunch of fiddling to not feel 'small'.

suspension was a huge improvement over my previous setup. didn't really think about it at all except for a few clicks softer compression and i need to speed up the rebound a tad. bike felt 'dead' when trying to pop over stuff. once i find the right balance of poppy but planted, it's gonna rock.

also dialed static sag to 32mm in rear which netted 102mm race sag all kitted up. this felt great, had ZERO of the usual Beta choppered out/push in corners feel. none. dig it. with the previous two Beta's i couldn't go more than 97mm race or the bike would push.

was so nice to see it out of the office and into the daylight!
