cool, thanks, no clue why i cant post images with Chrome but whatever, Safari works for now. EDIT: nope, Chrome works again.

yeah, just going to wrap and run ... would like to get some heat shrink over it but not sure i can without removing a terminal.

harness is designed, will start laying out the wire and connectors needed once i get the subframe back on.

    going from this...

Isn't that always the way? I have a massive soft spot for motion pro tools. I have a bunch of them and most of them make my life easier.

Meant to ask earlier. Where are you sourcing your wire and connectors? I imagine it is quality oil resistant, high-temp stuff. I've been trying to stop using radio-shack crap wire in stuff nowadays. Also paying attention to gauge. The Harley has a bunch of deutsch connectors. Fortunately those are super common from the usual sources. So I've been investing in tools and stocks of those.

yeah, it really is regarding MP, excellent stuff from those guys.

for connectors and tools, i go through CycleTerminal.com out of Jersey, owner's name is Joe, he's got great stock, good pricing and ships fairly quick. highly recommended.

for wire i've heard suggestions to go with robotics wire since it's durable and flexible but i ended up buying some TXL wire from WireBarn.com in Michigan. i chose that after seeing that custom fab shops like Revival Cycles builds new harnesses with that type of wiring. here is their overview on TXL:

TXL cross-linked thin walled wiring meets SAE J1128 standards and offers protection superior to PVC varieties whether it be against heat, solvents or abrasion. The wire lengths included in the kit should more-than-suffice for running wires anywhere you'd need on your project, with varying gauges both capable of handling necessary electricity and compact enough for a clean, easy install.

If you're on a budget, any modern car should be made with TXL wiring. Pick up a scrap harness and away you go...

that's great to know, i had no clue what to use ... i tried to source the same colors so that the edits are consistent with existing but no luck. not a big deal though, simple enough diagram to refer to down the road if needed.

    No, Freedom in Concord.

I did check out the GG but decided to get an exhaust for the SF instead.

    Re: typeone's Beta build (200RR)

this bike has had notchy shifting since day 1, unlike my 250, kind of a bummer at times ... ran my usual Spectro SX Clutch Saver tranny oil from new but got a tip that Honda HP Trans oil provides a better shifting experience in the 200. tried it last season and that was def true for me as well, nice change ... heard another tip that Klotz Flex Drive 30 gear lube (thinner than HP) works even better. anyone have experience with this stuff? it's a lot more $$ than the Honda oil but fingers x'd i see more improvement.

i was able to slide some heat shrink over the starter lead without removing a terminal, beefed up the two portions that contact the headstay and motor with some Super 33+ elec tape then shrink to seal. should work fine

while i was at it, cleaned up the shrink at 4 of the terminals for both pos and neg leads

    supplies for this weekends work...

oddly satisfying...we all love a good clean shrinking

even on the headstay hitting cables/wires!

no experience w' that tranny oil

I run the Klotz trans stuff you showed there.. I have to say that it has made for the best feeling clutch and trans. I never ran it before the Husky and I wonder why now... Would have made those hard shifting Yamis in the 80s so much more fun..

thnx for the input, that's great to hear, sounds like it should feel even smoother than the Honda oil then. look forward to testing.

    ----

didn't get a chance to work on the harness yet but the bike is buttoned up otherwise. season is here, hope to wrap it tonight/tomorrow, maybe heat cycles on Friday afternoon.

i must have reused the expansion > silencer joint sleeve from the 250 because it's worn out and was spraying spooge on frame + rear brake master ... trying a KTM unit this time which looks much nicer. it's longer and uses some compression springs. should work mint.

    Nice!
I just switched to a KTM sleeve on the YZ. (older version)
Still needed a little silicone at the back.
What year KTM sleeve is that?

nice, yeah, heard the '17-20 KTM/Husqvarna 250/300 version was a little longer, and bonus it comes with the springs. my OEM Beta sleeve lasted a long, long time with zipties applied when new, i was just stupid and didn't keep the new one when i sold.

nabbed KTM part from Slavens: #KT55405057000K - $14.95 ... which is hilarious because the shorter version sans springs is $24.95

    Re: typeone's Beta build (200RR)

Ya, I have the shorter one no springs. I didn’t even see the springs on the parts diagram. Probably why it leaked a little last week.

Silicone worked but I just went out and put a couple zipties on for good measure.
