They are due in January. LBI already pre sold two.
We could work out a 2fer deal.

    Re: typeone's Beta build (250RR)

If you get tired of fighting the Beta forks, I have decided to sell off my YZ250 that I built as my last bike for retirement. After all the setup work I did with the Lectron carb, GYTR flywheel, X-ring chain and good tires, I only rode it a few times. It has 10 or 11 hrs on it now, LOL. Now I think it's time to swap it for a sailboat and apply for an AARP card.

    Re: typeone's Beta build (250RR)

Eddie! man, it's been ages ... thanks for the heads up on the YZ but i'm not sure i could move on from the RR, unless that new 200 falls in my lap

bummer on the AARP sailing card but i guess when it's time, it's time ... you should start buying fast cars like the Squirrel, haven't seen him in forever either.

Yeah, it seems like ages since we rode Hodges together. I miss those rides, but my asthma gets bad teaching in a wood shop. I also have a rib that detaches from my spine when I slam the whoops hard.
I haven't talked to the Squirrel in a long time. He came by a long time ago and we had a good guitar jam. I think some of it was my fault that we haven't talked in a while. When people got all butt hurt over politics I didn't firmly pick a side, so I lost some good people who were on both of the political extremes. I they forced me to pick I would say mildly Libertarian. Dan was a loss that I miss, but he runs in the Harvard professor circles with people who have strong opinions. I sometime shoot paper targets, but I'll give credit for a good idea no matter who it comes from.

    Re: typeone's Beta build (250RR)

work has been insane but i finally started picking at the carcass again ... feels good

i've been cleaning up my axles way too often lately, especially with the wet season we had last year, the corrosion comes back so fast. a lot of this had to do with the shitty, full coverage spacers from Wise i gave a try last season. do not recommend, more on that later.

opted for new axles front and rear. start fresh.

new bearings, seals and spacers up front (SKF wheel seal kit w/rotating seal lip + hard anno spacers)

not sure how i feel about these yet. SKF just discontinued them and they are very finicky to install. have to be careful not to dent outer metal lip or they won't spin. a block of wood is recommended for install. both my buddy and i tried traditional methods, being very careful, and ended up with duds. hmmm.

supposed to be the cats ass so we'll see how well they work. i'm mostly concerned about the rear. front i will prob have to use an OEM seal on disc side due to the special spacer needed for the Acerbis guard i run.

all my chain guards + guides are shot after 5 years of use, pretty pumped with the durablity for cheap monies

    went OEM for swingarm...

and TMD for shoe + upper roller

shock went out for full service, another revalve and i had travel increased by 35mm which will increase ride height by an inch. this will help balance the chassis as Betas can be super sensitive to dial front-end feel in. see previous novels written here. heh.

also had the tuner replace upper shock bearing while he had it.

really excited to have BOTH ends completely in tune this season. last years fork work (w/new MXT inserts) was just amazing.

inspected and cleaned the steering head bearings. all looked great, just blasted with contact cleaner, regreased and buttoned up.

the wedge-style hand guard mounts for my EE guards were getting real difficult to tighten/loosen so i upgraded to the G2 threaded bar-end mounts. nice kit.

also trying out the ProTaper lock-on grips this season. tired of glue and eventual grip spin after wet days.

next up is fork bushings, seals and oil then get front end back together.

I want all of that. All of it.

I need to tear the chassis of my poor 200 down. So massively overdue.

did you try the steel versions first? (at least i think BRP + Fastway are steel)

the thing i like about the others is the spacer on the end to keep the handguard a hair away from the grip end without having to move grips further in. i trim the ends off my grips every spring and always hate how short they get.

Looks like $18 for a set of those nylon inserts?
This is how much of a cheapskate I am; that's too much.
Wonder if I could 3D print these...

Think of it in home improvement terms. Then it will seem free!

    yeah, $18-25 no tap-tap included

you could totally print a similar solution, they're just threaded plugs ...

but back on cost, the nice thing is you can reuse on other bars so i imagine i'll have these for quite some time. some of the others i think you red loctite in.

I have yet to disturb the set in my sumo, on the flip side I can easily see a bolt pulling through a printed equivalent just on install.

    Re: typeone's Beta build (250RR)

forks are done ... all InnTeck / SKF components again

went with the 'HD' double-lip seals this time around although there was ZERO debris behind the standard SKF dust seals

for oil i'm trying out KYB 01M instead of the Motorex 2.5/5wt mix i ran last season. should be a little lighter according to specs

also trying out the SKF fork sliders for added protection, steel wear rings needed replacing soon

Meanwhile, over in yamaha-land, I'll just fire it up the way I put it away after I crashed it last season

I'm only half joking. My bike isn't nearly as clean and does have a growing list of things to do soon.

The threaded bar mounts look nice. My guards are mangled enough that I know any time I take them off, it's going to be a fight to get them bolted back on. Although I guess I'd just end up cross threading the threaded inserts eventually?

yeah, yeah, heard it before. woods bikes are supposed to look like shit ... it’s a labor of love for me ... and i hate doing anything but tires (or some tuning) during the main season.

no clue how the nylon guard mounts will work but hope they hold up as long as the originals. i’ve been running those same EEs for almost 8 years.

you all healed up? ... you were on fire last season! can wait to jam with the crew.
