would def hit the RTG but have to stay fairly local this wknd. plus i'd like to do a few shakedown runs to make sure the winter maint is good to go. might jam out back before the weekend to test, which would be ideal.
I'll see if I can make it happen. While I doubt I'll have trouble talking my buddy into going, I'd still have to get a hall pass.

re: typeone's Beta build (250RR)
wknd didn't go as planned, glad everyone bailed on a Sat ride...
- stripped a bolt head for the headstay
- catapulted the bike off the stand attempting to torque the lower shock bolt (upper part of shock wasn't pulled back enough)
- found a busted speed nut for the silencer
- stripped a button head bolt for skid
- front tire was flat
:D
all set now, just needs GASSSS. hope to fire it up for a few quick heat cycles tonight.

re: typeone's Beta build (250RR)
LOL, I dropped my R6 into my Ducati. Duc foot peg went straight into the R6 seat, tearing the hell out of it.

wife came running down after the huge crash, "are you OK?" ... "bike fell off the stand" ... "oh, that's what they're made for anyway, right?" ... yes, dear :D i'm just glad it didn't take out the turntable to the right of it and old fluids under it.

re: typeone's Beta build (250RR)
finally breathing fresh air once again. fired right up, purrrred on the stand, feels great in the yard. hope to jam out back later in the week to see how she feels.
tried to take a compression reading but my gauge doesn't fit under the frame, need to source a brass elbow or something.
also relocated the horn from in front of the right rad to behind the number plate. prepping for EE rad guard install tomorrow.

re: typeone's Beta build (250RR)
thanks, guys. she cleans up nice :lap:
replacing the pipe o-rings and springs and clearing the skidplate helped a lot. didn't realize how ratty the pipe was getting, no annoying buzzing and shaking. pipe was definitely making metal-on-metal contact at the flange. i'll watch the FMF o-rings, supposedly the KTM Viton rings are way more durable.
the blue clevis-farkle i added doesn't fit very well, sloppy pedal. i'll try to find a thin shim to fix (diameter of lever hole is bigger than pin) but prob just ditch it. bummer. 10horse lost.
bike always feels crazy powerful when i first ride it in spring, cant wait to hit a full session, maybe Thurs. we're starting to build our loop out back, neighbor worked on a tech uphill section Sunday.

Dudes rigs always look like that...
Mine on the other hand, have more of that "lived in" look.

re: typeone's Beta build (250RR)
white plastics FTW. (and replace everything every season for no reason)

Re: typeone's Beta Blog (250RR)
Don't I know it. And yeah, lived in is where I'm at.

re: typeone's Beta build (250RR)
I've just given up. I just can't have nice things. I slid the nice shiny new plastics on mine and tore 'em up the very next time she set wheel in the woods.
Whatever. As long as it runs..

that's pretty much where I'm at. maintain it, keep it functional, and don't worry about pretty. Clinton is certainly in this as a labor of love, on top of riding, which is a different element. respect.

Engineering is basically the same. Sprinkle in some pointless meetings. Also the fuck-off stage is a byproduct of self preservation as there are likely to be 3954 feature/design/road-map changes before you even get to the green stage of the project.
