Yeah guy doooo eat do eat.

Order screws, throw KX in truck, drive to either my house or Hessogay early one sunday. 3 of us tag team your bike it'll be donw in 1 hour tops.

Here's the kicker. Your tires need to be nearly brand new. We need enough knob to hold the screws and not pop the tube.

So if your tires are beat forgedahboudit.

O crap, thanks for the info..I think both my fronts are close to new but I know my extra rear isn't so good...might have to use my good wheels. I will maybe snap a pic tonight and attach to see if you think the rear is ok to do, they are definitely rounded off but not worn down really.

That should be fine, decent size knobs, 1/2" is plenty to work with. The tires really have to be beat if they're running with less than that.

if you are worried about using a "good tire" all you do in the spring is back out all the screws and carry on your way , then next winter you have to rescrew a set of tires, If you were going to go racing I would prep an ice tire better, with longer screws and a liner etc. but for messing around on the ice, you'll be fine .

I don't have the cake for the handguards right now, if you want me to order them I'd need the cash first, just got my first paycheck in weeks. If you want to order them just go to the website, koldkutter.com, you want the 1/2" bag of 1000, if you don't want to wait for them to ship call a few shops and see who has the gold pro model ice screws. Think I saw them at the shop in derry nh.

The 'pro' screws looks like they improved the cut from a few years ago.

    Re: Winter coming ICE RIDING

I'll keep my eye on the weather, I am coming from mass and would rather not if its going to be a hellish ride up in the snow.
if I do make it I'll probably be the "sweep" rider on the track and even when you ring this thing out its not nearly as fast as a full size bike .

    but they sure are fun

Man was it cold that day or what? My Raptor looked new back then

Sean, I went over Nates today after work and plowed off his pond..yes the whole pond. The plan was to ride all day Sunday but a couple things came up so it looks like we are only going for a couple hours in the morning. There's 8" of ice

    Re: Winter coming ICE RIDING

I just installed a bunch of "gold screws" in my CR250. I'm going riding on a frozen pond in Wallingford CT. tomorrow. I'll give you guys an update on how the screws worked. It took about 2 hours to install them on Michelin AC10 tires. I hope they work I'm nervous now after reading this thread! (first time on ice)

OK, had a great time on these tires! But and this is a big one, I couln't go really fast. The guys with the Fredettes were rippin. Not even in the same league! There were about 30 of us on the ice with alot of guys running the Trelleborgs. They could ride but they couln't push. Fun times all in all. I would prolly spend the coin on the Fredettes if you were planning on doing this alot but to pop your cherry on the ice the gold screws worked fine-no crashes no screws tearing out!

    Re: Winter coming ICE RIDING

BWAP and I went out today on the pond near us, we didn't get clear ice as a lot of sled and 4wheeler traffic has packed down the snow. I had a hard time getting it sideways as there was a lot of snow grabbing the front wheel , but we managed to have fun for a couple hours anyway.
