    Re: YZ250X vs XCW250

Lighting is a non issue for me, but it seems easy to get enough power to run proper LED lighting.
Electric start, meh, I can push the kick starter on this thing with my hand and start it, it starts that easy.
As for the 5 vs 6 speeds, I was surprised to see that first and second gears are the same as the YZ mx version, 3rd, 4th, and 5th are where the adjustments were made to make it wide ratio. The bike lugs down to walking speeds in first, and 5th seems like overdrive. It seems well suited to fit the wide range power output of the engine.

Jesus. What's next? I want the trail to be perfectly smooth so I don't get bounced around?

Saw this on Craigslist: For Sale Magura Hydrolic Clutch CRF 450 R 2013 - 2014 - $125 (Attleboro MA).

No affiliation, thought someone might be interested.

Really happy with my decision to get the 250X, amazing how easy this bike is to ride. We covered about 20 miles of trails Saturday and I’m ready for more.

Thinking about having a ride at my farm on Saturday, June 16 if anyone is interested. Probably have to keep the group reasonably small, and reasonably quiet bikes.

Very awesome to hear...that’s what the magazines said! Some even said they liked it better than the MX model on the track

    Getting used to the power?

There isn’t anything not to like once you ride one.
Still haven’t dusted mine off yet. Maybe this weekend.

    Congrats!

    Re: YZ250X vs XCW250

I have a question for the smokers about oil fuel ratio?

My manual says 32:1 on the 250x, while my last KTM 200 was 60:1. I had my KTM for 3 years, and never once fouled a plug. My 250X, I have ridden maybe 5 or 6 times, and I’m on my 3rd spark plug. Internet suggests 40ish:1 is a good ratio for the 250x, but why can’t I run 60:1 like I did on my KTM?

I always ran 50:1 with good synthetic premix.
    That’s all I’ve got.

    Re: YZ250X vs XCW250

stock jetting? what brand and type of oil? what heat range is the plug? is the motor always in the lower rev range?

EDIT: and you can run 60:1 like you did in the past but that depends on oil type and possibly jetting changes.

    I run 40:1 in my X.
Sound like you have a jetting issue not your fuel oil ratio.

    Re: YZ250X vs XCW250

If you want to run a 36:1 semi-synthetic or 40:1 synthetic, try a 45 pilot jet with the Air screw around 1 1/2 out. If you ride more woods than track, the BR7ES stays cleaner and should last 2+ years without fouling.

I haven’t touched the jetting, so whatever setting it came with, is what’s in it now.

Also using the Yama-Lube R oil.

The plug is a BR8ES, I was just replacing with stock parts, actually had 2 new ones in the tool box from back in the banshee days.

Mostly trails and the RPM range is low to mid, not much high.

I love the blue wheels. I think it would look even better with gold wheels, but I think every motorcycle would look better with gold wheels.

The blue wheels are holding up surprisingly well, only a few scrapes from rocks and sticks so far. Looking forward to spring to ride again.

    Re: YZ250X vs XCW250

Finally getting more free time to ride this thing after pretty much sitting in the shop for the first year. Trying to ride after work once a week, and every other weekend with a neighbor and some guys from work.
Other than fouling plugs randomly, the bike has been flawless. I also put on a Maxis trials/enduro hybrid rear , which made a huge difference in the roots and rocks around my place. Running a tube and 15psi, and the traction is pretty insane.

Neighbor got some video, I’ll try and post it once he sends it to me
