Funny the 20/20 clip shows horses but says the ATC is dangerous. I've gotten hurt much worse riding a horse than I ever did the old ATC or ATV. And who let a 60# kid ride a big ATC by himself, no body weight to control the thing...
Dad's Dream: Earn enough money to live the life that his wife and kids do.
My lifetime mileage on (those fricken) three wheelers:
Ten feet wide open on the rear wheels
Zero feet on the front wheel (in the air the whole time, at full lock angle)
One dented quarter panel on my friend's parents new car, after I wheelied into it
In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have just pinned it for the donut right off the bat on the virgin ride. This was in the 80's. Not in any rush to take the second!
Ha! We rode the shit out of those as teens in the 80's.
I had a 200S wide open on a fire road, downhill off camber turn and I slid off and hit a stump. That launched me into a pine and then dropped into some rocks. Out cold for several minutes and then immediately into shock when I saw my hand was pointed the wrong way! Broken bones, couple days in hospital, and a vicious bark burn on my neck and chest. Headlight and my 'helmet' were found about 100 feet into the woods, wheeler was mangled. Operator error for sure, but I'm glad atv's added a fourth wheel!
loved them as a kid! my cousin lived behind us and had an ATC 70 (and a JR50), used to rip around on that thing all the time trading off doing laps. we mainly rode minibikes > dirtbikes but i also spent some time on a 125M that was crazy fun. my mom flipped it on her first ride, no lid on, laughing the whole time. hahaa.
few years ago, a friend of ours in town comes jamming up the street on a mint 125M. blast from the past. i was dying ripping around the yard re-learning how much body english it takes to make those things turn/slide at speed. immediately wanted to buy it off him
every fall my neighbor and i start talking about building a mean 250R for the ice. holy shit that would be a fun toy.

Love those old motorcycle ads and brochures. Back in jr high in the 70's we had Honda book covers from our local dealer. And I agree about horses - those things can be dangerous, but people always look at bikes as dangerous.

I like how in the Honda commercial, the ATC rider goes around the log that tripped up the dirt biker, (aka avoided the obstacle instead of conquering it ala the narrator) and just left he rider to his own devices. Even back then Honda knew ATV riders were <inappropriate language>.![]()
The 80's were terrible AND awesome!!
I was born too late![]()

I rode the wheel off an 85 ATC 200X that I got brand new in 84, I was 9 years old.. I lived to tell about it, and I actually still own it.

Last decade a guy could walk into McDonald's and expect to get a hot cup of coffee.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
seems like a right of passage to grow up in CA was to have an ATC....in my moto group chat 3 people still have 'em
we are thinking about getting them going and going on a goon trail ride...
so uh...would these haul ass/hold up w' my YZ?

it doesn't matter, Just Do ItŪ! ... i forget how old you are but it's never a mistake to relive the '80s. NEVER.
haul ass on those two models compared to a YZ250 is a funny statement, but i love it ... get acquainted with the wack body-english needed then find a 250R to rip!

I rebuilt my atc70 about 5 years ago and put a big bore kit it. It was the biggest mistake I've made in motoring in a while. It was a true death machine. It was always flipping me off and then immediately landing on top of me. Useless going up hills at the point. Final straw was it flipping me on my back right on a stump then landing on top of me to really drive the stump home. Sold it right after that and used to fund to buy and build a racing mower which then immediately flipped me off and landed on me. I put some big weights on the front and all was good.
