Ok - lets look at the key issue here. People getting bent out of shape because the police are taking steps to stop them evading them?

Ok - so, running from the cops = bad. But your plate is visible. I dont give a damn who knows what my plate is - legally, its got to be visible, and it is on the rear of my bike.

Frankly, it seems the only real reason to get bent out of shape is either a serious 'man is out to get me' syndrome, or a habit of running from the cops?

All I'll say is that I can understand the cops have the right to video the plates since it's public property. What pisses me off is that it's assumed you're going to run from them. Guilty until proven innocent I guess. At least if you're on a sportbike. AFAIK they didn't video tape the cruisers. While technically legally, it reeks of profiling and helps to re-inforce the "us vs . them" mindset and gives the good cops a bad rap in the process. It shouldn't be that way.

Also keep in mind that while some of you are lucky enough to be able to piss and moan about this, others have to sit at work watching every agonizing Tuesday go by knowing that Bike Night is merely 11 miles away yet painfully out of reach.

don't think about it as if they were targeting NESR - if that were the case i'd be pissed too. i think we all know that most of us are not the type of rider those cops are targeting. unfortunately, the cops don't know who you are.

you have to remember that a bunch of douchebags also take interest in this sport because it helps them pick up 17 year old girls at hampton beach or display the size of their incredibly oversized teenage balls. because of their frequent displays of mental retardation, they have this uncanny ability to make the entire subculture of sportbike riders look like assholes. you know the type of person i'm talking about. you know you aren't that person. but here's the honest truth: to the random passerby or cop, we're just guys and girls on flashy bikes that look just like the ones that run half the time they get lit up.

your not guilty of anything they are most likely responding to complaints and or previous incidents.. they are keeping everyone in check .. sending a msg dont fk around .. lets face it people do stupid shit leaving these events .. now they might think twice and it could just save a life .. deter crime b4 it happens.
