Need wisdom guys. I've working on my technique at slower speeds on secluded exit ramps. Getting better at not disrupting the suspension, keeping my CG to the inside of the turn, resting the outside arm and steering with the inside arm. The problem is I can't figure out how to eliminate fifty pencing the turn. I 'm keeping the speed no more than 40mph max., my headparallel to the pavement looking as far through the turn as possible but I get nervous about keeping my view constantly around the bend ( fear of getting to close to the curbs. I'm guessing its inexperience, also i'm overly cautious because i'm not on a track. I'm not trying to push because I'd rather not take the risk on the street. Any advice about finding the apex/ double apex, approach, anything?? Much appreciated Thanks![]()

I think I figured out why i'm having trouble. the exit ramps I've been messing with are long and very narrow decreasing radious turns so its hard to go semi straight before hitting a turning point( like 10 feet at a time) no matter how I cut in during my approach. Is it possible that its just a multiple apexed turn or is it more likely my inexperience? thanks
where is this? Boston or NY?

In Ny. Dude I just checked out the cornerspeed website. That track looks like fun
K... nevermind... I was hopin to hit this onramp w/ ya & see what you're talkin about... when ya comin back to Boston so we can ride (and you can talk to your real estate company & get me my 220 bucks back)
As for the cornering thing... not sure if i can answer your question for ya, but you shouldn't be double, tripple, quadruple apexing a typical onramp like it sounds like you're doin. It's one big turn & it's street, not a track. Just hold one line through it, keep good line of sight and control your speed w/ small throttle imputs & your turning radius w/ your lean angle.
Or just wait till May 25th.... you're comin, right? RIGHT?!?!?!

Sounds like you're trying to apply high speed techniques to slow speed riding.
It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

I;ll be back in beantown on monday but wont have my bike up there yet. BTW I talked to the management company 3 times about the towing issue and not having garbage cans for my building and I keep gettin the run around. when I get back I will make a point of goin down there in person. As for the ramps, I usually do exactly what u said as far as keeping a single line around the turn with a steady lean angle and throttle control.. I think the problem is that I;m approaching the Exit ramps as if they were more of an increased radious in an attempt to try and find one turning point followed by too hard of a lean, in other words (correct me if im wrong) I've probably been riding these particular turns fine, I just read a bunch of shit and I'm trying to execute these specific ramps as if they were a different type of turn i think(over analizing a simple turn maybe) the only way I'm gonna figure out what i'm potentially doing wrong is by doing some track days, watching other guys who know what there doing on the same type of turns, and going out riding with the Oreo. hahahaOriginally posted by OreoGaborio

Exactly!! Thats what I thought the problem was. glad to know I didn't dismiss that thought now that u have reaffirmed what I suspected. thanksOriginally posted by SVRACER01

On the street I have a little more fun by trying to turn in a bit late on decreasig radius offramps. It seems to let me apex alot later in the turn... allowing me to make the whole offramp a more constant turnrate throughout the whole corner.
There are alot fewer adjustments(at least it seems that way to me) going through that kinda of corner.
TL1000R --- For those who like to drive high speed tanks
Hang out midlane using a nice, smooth arc regardless of small radius changes in the road until you see the final apex, and then make your move. This will give you the most options, smoothest line, and avoid a disaster as the radius tightens.
This is actually the way I had to ride at Willow Springs, which has a few loooong turns.
Cool, Thanks for the info. best answer I got![]()
Are you trying to push the bike, lean angle, posture, etc. beyond what is required for the corner speed you are carrying?
Are you early apexing the turn? Are you exiting the turn before the turn is complete and needing to turn some more?
Not that this should apply to the street but are you trying to focus on carrying speed thru corner, maximizing your drive into the corner, or getting the bike out of the turn so you can drive hard out off the corner? A veteran racer/iinstructure explained these concepts during a track walk and it really makes a lot of sense. It de-mystified many turns and why the racing line is where it is in relation to other turns.
