What did you learn on your trackday.

A few things that I noticed on this one. First off, I wasn't riding as well as I was on the last one. Probably for a few reasons but whatever. I noticed at the end of the day in the open session when I was tailing some number plates, that when I stopped using my brakes I was a whole lot smoother. I also noticed when your pants aren't so toyte you can get your knee down, and when you do it's a little scary.

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

I noticed what 5 hours of sleep can do to an overly-confident rider: make him into a slow cautious zombie. Next time I'm goin to bed at 8:00PM sharp the night before!

I was at the August 11th trackday. I had a stoopid MEETING and BILLS that got in the way of the last two trackdays....

Two cheeseburgers and a Diet Coke aren't exactly helping your cause.

What did you learn on your trackday.

I learned I love the track!!! But need to take things down a whole hell of a lot when returning to the street....

Seriously, I learned just how much getting off your bike makes apexing turns so much easier on the bike itself- Less resistance! I also learned I am addicted to getting my knee down in corners. I broke that addiction and worked on smoother faster turns instead of trying to get a knee down.. It ussually found it's way to the pavement anyways. (DID YOU HEAR THAT NATE???)
I also learned how much being smooth with your throttle/brakes is a major major part of keeping solid tracktion between the pavement and your tires!

Oh yeah Michelin Pilot race take off rock!!

I also learned one more thing, Just how fast I was.. Shhhhh.... Dont tell... I wasn't racing I was just curious as to my times.

What did you learn on your trackday.

i still can't put my thoughts together about my track day. It was the best day of my life!

I had so much fun! There is nothing like it, thats for sure!

As others have stated, I was amazed at what the bike was actually capable of! I've never loved riding so much as I did that day. It was great to just fly around the track without concern of oncoming cars, blind corners, etc;. It was heaven ...

What did you learn on your trackday.

Being my 1st track day, I learnedd a bunch of things, the most important being to RELAX! I was so tense on the bars that I left with the worst headache I've had in my life. Every time I would think to relax my deathgrip on the bars, it would only last half a lap before I was getting tense again. There were a couple of times in the last session that I told myself to virtually let go of the bars and I basically let my arms go limp mid-corner, and lo and behold, the bike felt more stable and it was easier to hold my line. Seems like these orange-shirt guys know what they're talking about.

yeah, relaxtion is a great thing ... it will also save you on the street!

I was riding with my buddy and I hit this deep crack in the road and the bars went from side to side for about 50', but I stayed relaxed and the bike just did its thing and straightened itself right now ... i think if I had a deathgrip I would have gone down from causing the wrong input into the bars.

The whole point of this is to shift your weight but, you don't weigh enough to make a difference!!

What did you learn on your trackday.

I learned that my bike doesn't like to stop. It just feels so heavy on the brakes!

I really wish I had gotten more sleep and felt sharper. I kept on givin it way too little gas coming out of the corners since I was worried about breaking the back tire loose. SO not my style.

Hopefully next time I'll be able to loosen up a bit more and really enjoy the ride. Perhaps by then the racebike will steer straight (straight forks didn't help! arg!) and I can play with something a little lighter and more agile.

What did you learn on your trackday.

Well yesterday I learned something new. I was spinning my rear tire and breaking it loose a lot in the corners. Turns out my throttle cable lock nut had backed out and there was a bit of play in it. Guess that's why I wasn't as smooth as I should ahve been on and off the throttle. Problem corrected.

If I learned anything from reading "Twist of the Wrist II", it's the fact that you need to relax on the bike. I had similar issues that you spoke of for a loooong time until I learned that. I followed his advice, and my riding ability improved a ton.

I learned that if you accidentally backshift from 3rd to 2nd at WFO at the kink (turn 8), bad things can happen . Not this time, though .
