    Today's Track Day

When people say a lot of crashes...we're talking about 12 red flags!
There were more red flags in the warm up and first session (7?) than the last track day overall!

I ended up being a lot more confident on the bike and got considerably faster as the day went on. I only had one hairy moment braking into three as I passed a red V-Twin (Duc 900?) that was slower in the corners but I couldn't get around on the straights. I missed my throttle blip in my double downshift and the rear reeaallly started squirming on me. So of course, I blew the corner, forcing the guy I just passed to slow way down to wait fcr me to get going again Whoever you are, I tried looking for you after the session to apologize but I couldn't find you. I felt like an ASS...I'm sorry.

Other than that, I aparently put on quite a spark show as the day went on. I wore about an inch and a half off my peg feelers. I figured it was easier than taking the things off and it made sure I was progressively turning harder as the day went on!

One more thing. The 1, 1a, 2 turn complex is definately my favorite!

    Damn straight!

I like that series the best too... My least favorite obviously was turn 3, but damn it I am going to go back and whip that fuckin turn next time.

Also turn 12 caused me some issues, but once I finally figured out how to get out wide enough for it coming in, it was a fun turn

    Cheers,
    Chris

But when we ride very fast motorcycles, we ride with immaculate sanity. We might abuse a substance here and there, but only when it's right. The final measure of any rider's skill is the inverse ratio of his preferred Traveling Speed to the number of bad scars on his body. It is that simple: If you ride fast and crash, you are a bad rider. If you go slow and crash, you are a bad rider. And if you are a bad rider, you should not ride motorcycles.

    Today's Track Day

It's good to hear how much fun you all had. The day started with an unusual amount of red flags, but in the end the number of crashes wasn't extreme. We usually expect 5 to 10% or so and this one was on the higher end.

I heard many compliments about how the day was run. We were told by a NHIS insider that our track days are the best attended. Tony, Paul, Graham, Chris and I have worked hard to make our events top-notch. We're looking to book 5 dates next year, so start saving your money. Or put it on your holiday wish list.

It was nice meeting a lot of you, but as Jay says, it's hard to know who you are when we all use real names in person, not screen names. Nazo, how are you healing?

On a personal note, Joe Eslie let me ride his ZX10. What a powerhouse! The suspension wasn't set up for the track, but was still real nice. I was dissapointed with the abrupt throttle, but overall a very nice bike.

    Today's Track Day

I too had a great day and the gods were very nice to us weather wise!

Much thanks to Tony, Renee, Graham, Ken, Dave, Chris, Derek and the many others that helped make yesterday a great success!! These days are so nice and really have helped me get to know my bike and improve my ability to ride. I know I have a long way to go but without the trackdays I don't think I would ever learn as much as I have!

It was great seeing everyone and meeting a few others. The riding community is such a nice family to be involved with!

I look forward to next year!

    Jamie

If you do want it back, it's some where outside turn 3 on the hill.

Its really not important, I feel like a dick for even mentioning it now. Like I said, I didn't realize that was him that left in the ambulance.

    Today's Track Day

Awesome day, hands down. I heard a few people mention this site the last time I was at NHIS for the August track day, and I had sort of forgotten all about it until last night.

Seeing all of the avatars, I recognize a lot of the bikes, and the riders. I was the guy in the yellow group on the yellow VFR. Pete followed me around the track for a few laps just after lunch, I think, and later on I got some time playing follow-the-leader with Ken.

Once again, the crew Tony has with him for his track days did not disappoint, and put on a tremendous effort with fantastic results. I'll be there next year, for sure!

Anways, congrats to all those who didn't dump it, and to those who did...keep it up next time!

I better see all of you at the NESR day next year! Hopefully we can try to book a couple NESR days.

    Today's Track Day

Thanks Tony for the great day. I guess we should all thank Mother Nature for the excellent autumn day also!

It was good to see everyone from NESR while working on riding better. I guess now we have to wait until the snow melts for the next track day at NHIS......bummer! Maybe a caravan to the south for a day or two is in order.......hmmmmm.

    Cheers

    Gets me thinking

I think I have 1st track day hangover...I can't stop thinking about how much fun I had, but I am bummed that it will be months until I can do it again. I tried to explain to my girlfriend why its so cool that I melted my rear tire and got rid of my chicken strips

Ken - I didn't get the chance to thank you for the on-track coaching...it was a big help. Something seemed to click because at the end of the day I felt like I was going slower yet I was going about +10 mph in the turns. Its like I told a coworker today - if I used the money I spent on track day to buy gas and ride on the street, I couldn't have learned nearly as much, let alone in a safer manner than street riding.

Kind of premature for me to act on, but yesterday got me thinking of maybe getting a track bike so I can pursue track riding without fear of uglying up my street bike. Perhaps I could swap my SV for something more comfy for the highway which is about 75% of my riding. I think I need to win the lotto

Just wondering... I'm not sure what comment surprised you? Can you clarify?

As for multi-day discounts, I can answer that with a definite maybe.

Once I get the dates and costs figured out, I will know more.

Should be around January or so.

If we did a multi-day deal, however, it will probably be like a SEASON PASS for a ski area. That means you'd probably have to come up with all the $$ at the beginning of the year and you could attend all 5 dates. One possible option was pay for 4 and get the 5th free, but how many people can come up with $800 or more at one shot?

As always... I'm open to suggestions and if they make sense I'm happy to try them.
