Basically I am just looking to have a little fun while getting the chance to push the bike a bit harder than i would comfortably be able to do on the streets (and to just learn how to ride better).

So to sum up...given the variables above...would I look like a total douche?

Not sure of the skill level but I bet you would be good to go with BOMO or the ARC clinic.

The ER-6n will be a fine track machine for your level. There have been Goldwings on the track! Don't worry about your pace. You will FEEL like you are flying and will have a blast!

Yes you will look like a "douche" but no one at the track will care.

Boston Moto's policy is "Leave your ego at the door". Our customers and staff don't care how new you are to track riding or what you ride. You will be welcomed as a track riding brother/sister.

It sounds like Track days and/or the ARC are exactly what you're lookin for.

Trust me.... most of the people in the beginner group of a TTD or BoMo event are street riders on street bikes just like you.

TTD doesn't have a specifically outlined program like BoMo, we just gear our entire event towards beginners. I've worked 1-on-1 with riders who didn't break 65mph down the front straight. Although that's not a regular occurrence, it's definitely something we've encountered and handled with no problems whatsoever.
We also have the option of doing the ARC on day 1, track day on day 2.

Me thinks you'd be impressed and satisfied with either one.... but I know you really wanna do a TTD

Re: Want to take beginner course

OK...so done deal. This weekend I am signing up for one of them.
    2 other quick questions:

    1) Does anybody ride their bike to a track day or do most people truck it up? (I have acess to a truck, but was also considering riding up the night before).

    2) As for gear, I have most everything except for pants (I would add them so that I have a leather 2 piece). Are gaunlet gloves required or can I use my shorts?

(I tried to lookup the info on the website, but got a page error)

1 - you CAN ride up... but at the end of the day you're GOING to be wiped and it's a looonnng ride home back to Pawtucket. If you were more local I'd say it's up to you. I used to ride up from Boston, but even that was pushing it. From RI, I'd highly recommend trucking it up.

2 - I don't know about BoMo, but gauntlet gloves ARE required for a Tony's Track Day.
Here are our full rider requirements for gear - http://www.tonystrackdays.com/catego...reparation.htm
And while I'm at it, here's the one for bike prep - http://www.tonystrackdays.com/catego...reparation.htm

PS, if you have the means to be able to do 2 days back-to-back, I HIGHLY recommend doing so. Day 1 is information overload for most people... day 2 things REALLY start coming together. I sincerely think 2 days back-to-back is twice as fun as doing 1, and just as beneficial as doing 4 days spread out over the year. So in a way, you're actually saving money (assuming you don't become addicted as so many people do! )
