    New bike

Hey all, I'm having a new-to-me S1000RR delivered today, needless to say I'm ridiculously excited... Anyway, the reason for my thread is that this bike will be track only and in addition to having literally DOUBLE the horsepower of my Hyper, it has a few doodads that I've never had on a bike. Basically I'm curious to get some input from people that have experienced with, first, a bike with this much horsepower at Loudon and Thomson? Second, the new doodads (tech) on this bike include a stock slipper, shift "assist" (quickshifter for upshifts only) and traction control, while I'm excited to have these aides I'm feeling a little apprehensive about getting used to them for the first time on track since I won't be able to cut my teeth on the street.

My plan is to just take it really easy for my first session/trackday/multiple trackdays, it's really all I can do right? And I've run in blue group for a while now, should I drop down for my first trackday?

Nice score. There is really nothing to get used to. All those things make it easier to ride fast. On the street you would never encounter them, and on the track you may not even notice them. The slipper just keeps the rear wheel from hopping on downshift. You would notice if it weren't there. Traction control is pretty hard to notice as well, until it is NOT there.

Everyone will be off the game the first couple of T-days. i'd stay in the blue group! Its all about the individual, lines and consistency. If you ridden blue for a while the lines SHOULD be established. Anyhow, The first couple of T-days SHOULD be a slow acclimation for all anyhow!

Ok, all makes sense, thanks for the opinions. And she just arrived, the next couple months are going to be difficult!!! Well setup bike too, Ohlins forks and shock, high compression pistons and race cams, tune, rearsets, clipons, etc...New bike-img_20200124_134330-jpg

Oh, and there is a pretty sweet looking GoldBet decal kit that I think would look good on the blue, but still deciding what or if I should spend my money on...

Ugh, so true! Speaking of which, are slicks any easier or more difficult to change with irons vs. road tires?

Slicks will be easier to change than a normal street tire.

Race tires are soft, pliable and very thin. By far the easiest to change. Especially if you are not up tight about scratching a rim.

Remember. If you don't win the first lap you might as well just go home.

    Lol, can I steal this!?

But seriously, I never thought the day would come, but I'm old and my testosterone production ain't what it used to be, I now only moderately care about "winning"...
