    Degs -

I cant seem to find the thread, but I remember you put together an idea for a trip to Mugello, Italy for a track day. Is that still a possibility? I wanna do it, I'll help with the details if you want.

It really wasn't bad - I think he had it priced with a rental bike at about $3k?

A trip to Europe without a track day can run that much pretty easily. Just consider it a vacation with some track time thrown in for good measure.

I think it would be a blast, and if we were over there anyway we could do a NESR Drunk-a-thon somewhere like Venice. How f'n cool would that be?

It's all water under the bridge, and we do enter the next round-robin. Am I wrong?

    How about an Augusta?

Sidenote: A guy had one yesterday at the track...in the rain! I saw him almost lose it in 11. Needless to say he took it a little slower the rest of the day.

If I recall, the price quoted was for Honda CBR600RRs, and you could buy upgrades.

Dont tell me you wouldn't enjoy riding a Hypermotard on the track. I dont like Ducatis either, but I'd ride a Vespa around a rack track if thats all I had.

In. May I suggest a day trip across Monaco to the south of france? I was dying to have a bike over there when I went. Beautiful roads.

    Oh, and topless beaches.

Degsy had it all planned out pretty well, but I think it required a lot of cash outlay for him.

My plan would be that we find a good trackday over there, and pay whoever we'd need to directly. As far as airfare, hotels, etc, we could suggest a flight and hotel for everyone to use, and have people make reservations and pay on their own.

People could stay however long they felt like it. Some might just want to stay for the track day, while others (like myself) might make a whole vacation out of it. I'm thinking I'd bring the wife and kid and spend some time in Greece either after, or before any track day.

But as long as we all met up at the track and had some time to hang out and ride bikes overseas, it would be a total blast.

I'd love to ride across the Millau Viaduct, even though it's not very twisty. But look at this shit:

Track, then ride bikes all the fuck over Europe. Shit, can't miss Amsterdam. Ibiza? A friend of mine in London has been bugging me to come do this for awhile. Wonder how bike rentals and crossing all those borders works.

    Spain instead?:

    Catalan Sports Bikes S.L.-CSB

Guy is originally from England, and owns a track school, tour guide, bike rental (all 675's if I'm not mistaken) business in Spain. Even runs some tours that include GP races.

He's also just helped kick off a Triumph 675 only series in spain.

His site seems a bit outdated, but worth contacting if your serious about going over. I know ScottieDucati did a track day with him a while back. The guy posts on the 675 forums often.

Hypermotard? I wouldn't even go. Ask Kates if he would rather have no bike or a hypermotard on the track. Ask Zack Lee how he likes racing his. Something else I might be able to be talked into, the hypermotard, I'd rather vacation to revere beach.

in 2001 10 day rental, air, food & lodging set me back about 2 grand.
2003 it was about 2200, 2004 it it might have been 2600.

of course in 2001 the Euro was about $0.85, in 2003 it was around par, and 2004 maybe $1.10 (IIRC).

now of course it's $1.45 and not going the other way anytime soon. of course the price of gas has also shot up in Europe, and no deals to be had on airfare.

I would suggest the numbers need to be massaged a bit more.
For renting those 675s it works out to about $250 a day to drive around and over $400 a day to rent the bike for the track. It makes a trip to VIR look real cheap. Better off visiting new tracks in North America.

I'm just bummed that the US dollar has been getting killed. I was considering a trip to Croatia and renting a BMW for a week, but with the cost it just didn't make sense to me. However, if it was 2001 I would have booked it.

The friggn weak dollar makes a week long trip with two track days and street bike rental work out to well over 5k.

On the upside, anytime I need something for the bike I justify it with "hmmmm, I didn't do that trip to Italy."
