    Educate me on laptimers

So I’ve already spent the first half of my money on the last 4 rounds of racing and I’m looking to get some help on a lap timer purchase.

I see some upwards of $500 while others like the SV racing product that is sub-$50. I don’t need any crazy bells and whistles just a run of the mill lap unit to track my times for each session/race.

What are you guys using and are there any specific models/manufactures I should avoid or live by?

Is the SV-racing product a beacon type? I would pass on that. I would stick with a GPS unit.
I have not looked in a long while, but when I did QStarz was where it was at for my money. I bought a LT-6000 and use about maybe 1/4 of the features it has. In retrospect I should have just bought the Q1000 self contained model. Nearly everyone I know that uses that likes it.

Just use it at track days but another vote for the QStarz Stuff. Has a lot of useful features. We have the old Q1000.

I have a MotoD Next timer and really like it.
Basic lap timing works great. Can put on computer for data log info later. Can overlay information on videos. $400.
Only thing I don't like is sometimes it doesn't pick up which track I'm at and I have to set track manually. There's like 50 tracks and you can only cycle in one direction so if you go past you have to do whole cycle again.
