there is no blue group in Fishtail.
Red, beginner
Yellow, intermediate
Green, advanced
Unless Rossi is there then he gets blue.

I meant to say YELLOW. Not sure what I was thinking...
The guy sticking his leg out in every corner. Yup super cool.
Me no likey crash
I was in the yellow group. There was a 2 cookie bounty offered for any information on him during the video de-brief. Oh ya, the whole class was ripping on him. He was no where to be found. Maybe he's the ghost of NHMS?

It really wasn't that big of a deal. We were doing a lot of video in the classroom and I happened to catch this guy doing the leg-out on the GoPro and I asked if he was in the room.
The issue, albeit it somewhat minor is that there are generally two main schools of thought around why the GP guys hang a leg out:
1. It makes it harder to pass (making themselves bigger)
2. It's distracting to the rider behind.
Neither of those things have a place at a trackday, so I was hoping to ask him politely to knock it off.
How were his times? Was he doing 1:09's? If so, I'll cut him some slack.

I was never really a believer in the leg dangle...but last race weekend I was trying to push my braking deeper into the bowl and a couple times my leg felt like it wanted to dangle. I was going to try it next time out, but now I feel like everyone would make fun of me

now you know the answer.
The logic behind the leg out is definitely stability.
Same theory behind a figure skater sticking their arms out while spinning to slow down - and then pulling them in to spin faster.
It's easier for the back of the bike to come around the front (spin) when everything is tucked in. Stick something out and now you should spin slower (less).
As said, of course, unless you are going faster than the fastest racers at Loudon now - it's probably slowing you down more than anything.

I stick my leg out on the 690. Its hard to do on the sv
When I start my KTM in the morning, rules are broken. Its inevitable...
