    Gaerne Race Boots advice??

Anyone ever try a pair of Gaerne race boots? Are they wide? I currently run Sidi Vertigo Corsa which are a bit narrow for my foot but they eventually broken in. Now that they're broken in and had a year worth of riding, the sole has been chewed up by my Vortex rearsets. I'm looking for suggestions for wide boots and a shoe cobbler who can fix them and I'm thinking of giving Gaerne boots a try. I've also had a older pair of Alpinestars supertech R which seem to run 1/2 size bigger than normal and slightly wider.

I have no experience with their street boots but I wear a pair of their SG-10 MX boots off road. I wear a 12 wide normally and had to go with an 11 to make them fit properly.

Alpinestar SMX+ tend to fit the wide feet people. I thoroughly enjoy them as a wide footed person.

Thanks! Advice here is the best! Just spoke to United Shoe Repair, I'm gonna get a pair of soles and then mail it off to them, then pick them up on the way to the track!

It's always nice when you find an inexpensive solution to what you thought was going to be an expensive problem. Many boot manufacturers have replacement soles (and other wear items) available so you can fix what you have instead of buying new every time.

I have a set of Gaerne street boots. I think I paid $350 for them in, oh, 2001? For that price you would think they would be well-made and durable -- and you would be wrong. Soles came off after a few months, velcro was always ripping off from the boot ankle, etc. Had them fixed by a cobbler a few times but the problems always came back.

I bought a used pair of A* boots and they are 11ty billion times better-made. The best thing about the Gaernes was the leather was so soft you wanted to stick your caulk in there...

Sharon Shoe Repair in Sharon Center did mine. I brought him the soles. I think it was $55.

I've had my Gaerne boot for a few years now and they've been good, no problems.
