    Re: glove question

Gauntlet gloves are a MUST if you're going to ride on the track. You don't want to run the risk of getting rash if you do have the misfortune of crashing and your jacket sleeves exposing bare skin.

That said, there are hundreds of good gauntlet gloves. Some VERY well priced.

Get a pair of Held gloves. Youll thank me when you crash them on the track or street. Ive have two pairs. Both been through some nasty crashes and are still in great shape.

The website 303 cycle closeouts had Yoshi gauntlet style gloves on closeout the other day for like $60. You can call the guy he was good to me (Though he sold out of my size glove before he got me the sizing chart)

    Re: glove question

Yeah, you want something that's comfortable, with a Gauntlet and good protection on the knuckles, palms, etc.

After buying three pairs of gloves online, I've found that gloves are kinda like helmets in the way that no two hands are made the same. Try to find a place that you can check them out in person and try them on.

I went to Seacoast who stock Held and RevIt.... Both pricey but worth it!
I REALLY, REALLY loved their RevIt gloves but they did have my size in anything other than white & red.

In the end, I went with the Helds, which I love.

    Re: glove question

definitely make sure you try them all on. Women's gloves are more different than men's gloves, and men's don't fit many women's hands perfectly. Try on as many different styles as you can before deciding - sometimes you get lucky and other times you get long fingers and wide palms, or short fingers and huge wrists......you see what I am getting at....

Thread Jack! - Speaking of Held gloves (love mine btw) has anyone gone through Held for repairs? I want to get mine refreshed for spring seeing as I've worn the stingray palms out of both.

    Re: glove question

Gauntlets are important on the track and on the street. If you crash, street pavement is just as hard and abrasive as track pavement.

Fit is important and sizes vary by manufacturer. I've bought Large gloves that fit perfectly others I had to return because they were too small. Some gloves offer short and long finger versions for people whose fingers aren't average length.

I've owned several brands over the years and they were all good gloves.

    Re: glove question

Generally the more you spend the better the quality. You can get $30. gloves but how good are they? I run Joe Rocket Speedmasters 5.0 and love them. Fit excellent and easy finger flex. Crashed 2 times with no damage. If you get gloves that are too stiff they are no good. Put on the glove and try to start your car. Quality costs more but is well worth it. Having broken both of my hands during the course of my life, protection is key.

    Re: glove question

Held. One good idea is to try them on with the jacket/suit you're going to be wearing. I ended up selling my a-star gp-techs because the funky plastic gauntlet wouldn't rotate smoothly around the cuff of my jacket.

I have a pair of Held Steves.

Should I upgrade to one of their track-oriented gloves? my first pair of Steves held up well in a street crash but the racing gloves look a lot more substantial.

I just sent mine in for repair. Turn six modified my gloves not to my liking. Very easy process and very affordable.

I'm convinced if I have my A*'s my fingers would be hamburger meat.

Do yourself the biggest favor ,its free , go and try on a pair of Held gloves, just so you know what they feel like.
All of these people gave almost the same answer, held gauntlet gloves , I wish somebody would have told me about these when I needed my first pair. $250 seems like a lot of money , but when you go down , ouch , my left hand will never be the same , a pair of helds are in my near future.

Spend the money. The track-oriented gloves vent better and going by the pics I've just seen of the Steves, it would be a welcome luxury in and of itself. It also appears that a purpose-built track glove typically has better/ stronger stitching in addition to better protection in the right places however that is just my opinion/ observation.
