Every time I've asked at a track day, the guys also wore Held Steves or thought they were adequate for track day use.

I slid down I95 at 40mph with my body on top of this glove.

So I'm a Held fan, just not sure if the upgrade is worth it. Looks like the Phantom has a lot more hard armor and more protection on the fingers, so that's probbly what I'll go for.

The phantom is a good glove. Ive crashed it pretty hard and its come through just fine. This year I have a pair of Kushitani GPR6 to try out. From what Im told they are one of the better gloves over there. They dont have the same hard armor the Helds have but they have a very think padding. Ive worn them once at a bomo day and they punch cones in T2 very nicely. Out of the box I like the fit of the held better.

Tested in two 160 mph crashes - worked perfectly!

    Re: glove question

I bought my first pair of Held gloves over the winter, wore them for the first time last Saturday in race two, crashed at about 90 in turn 8. I gotta say I'm very dissapointed, the gloves came apart in four places, all stitching. I know I slid a long way but I expected better for the money I spent and the reputation they have. My 2¢.

No thats me. I stopped racing the EX last June when I picked up an SV. I still got it, but just use it for track days.

Another vote for Held Phantoms. Mine were used and crashed MANY times before I got them. I've crashed them 3x (Jackie, you were there for the most recent. You saw the bike.) They are still 100% intact and I still trust them to race. Not sure how I could give a better testimony.

    Re: glove question

I swear I just got a bad pair or something. Already sent them to Held USA to see what they thought of them. I figured it was worth a shot, at $280 a pair.

You must have, and it's the only bad pair I've ever heard of. I know you personally and respect your opinion. That said, you've seen the other reviews in this thread and others. My most recent crash was apex of 6, god knows how many crashes that made for these. The color matches my 80's Vansons. Bitchin gloves. I can't believe they are still in service, but they are!

I was hit from the side by a Honda Accord in a construction zone.

I went off the bike to the ride but landed face down with my left glove under my torso.

    ...Bought another pair....

    Re: glove question

Mine are 3 years old, and Daniel crashed them 5x before I crashed them another 3 or 4. Still in perfect service!
