Hey , Iwas wondering if its ok to use a headlight mesh to cover your lights for track days, the mesh lets light pass pass through but I think it form fits to the lenses like tape would. WOuld this material ( I saw it on ebay) be acceptable for use?? Thanks![]()
are you referring to the colored MESH light lids?
if you go to the childrens musuem in Boston, they have ROLLS of that same material in white, i used some and just painted it with rattle can stuff ( krylon fusion? I think)

This should be in TONYS not NESR!

Headlight mess sucks ass.
I put it on my Superhawk once upon a time and lost SO much light that I think that crap should be illegal. I was amazed...
Boston --> San Diego
If you put anything... ANYTHING in front of a headlight... guess what... it blocks/filters out light. If you get the 3M protective headlight covers it lets the most light through compared to just about anything else you would consider & is approved by Tony for headlight covering. If you're gonna be that anal & not use duct tape, do it right, pony up the bucks for your baby & go w/ that.
With that said, Timaayyy, your headlights are no different than anyone else's and the sooner you realize your bike is nothing but an expensive TOY that's no different than any of the bikes in this forum the better off you & your ulsurs will beIf you keep it up, pretty soon i'm gonna come over & take a key to your pretty fairings just so you won't coddle your bike like a newborn child.

Well put. I'll check out the 3m stuff for the track. Btw: I'm finally starting to chill. I noticed that worrying about stupid shit too much takes away from enjoying as you put so well "an exspensive toy".![]()
PRAISE JESUS!!! AMEN, BRUTHA TIM!!!
Ya know how those crazy priests slap the foreheads of people & knock em down to heal em? I think we gotta do that to you & your bike... knock both of ya on your assThe sooner you relax & enjoy riding, the better & more comfortable you'll become.

NOT TRUE ---- JERKY
if you get a big magnifying glass + put it in front of your headlight, it actually intensifies the light + you are able to burn lots + lots of ants---you jackass!![]()
it doesn't intensify it, it concentrates it... and even though it concentrates it, it DOES block, filter, scatter and reflect some of it. Less light exits the lense than enters it. If you wanna dispute this fact, take some fucking physics classes & get back to me.... JERKY

prove it---i've done it, have you? or are you just spewing shit from your mouth as usual about things you've "heard"
prove it?
ok... when it's dark out & you look out the window, is it kinda tough to see outside cuz all you see is a reflection of what's inside? Yes... you do... Well guess what, asshole, that's light from inside getting reflected back at you and magnifying glasses are made outta the same shit. Even the clearest glass reflects light, which means not all of it gets through. Magnifying glasses magnify images, NOT light.... it doesn't make things brighter when you look through it, does it?
the only thing that ant frying trick does is take the light that DOES make it through that magnifying glass and redirect it to a common point. it does NOT intensify the light, only concentrates what passes though.
Like i said, take a fucking physics class.... actually... on second though, ya might wanna learn your addition & subtraction tables first.

if you focus a light (like a flashlite) against the window--you can see just as well if not better than as if the window were open, because you are changing the lense trajectory!
+ no a magnifying glass is not the same material--just because it is glass! next time you want to look out your window, look in a mirror + wonder to yourself why you can't see thru it--after all, it is glass!!
now go take a class on "how to SHUT THE FUCK UP"!
wow, it's amazing how smart you security guards are nowadays!
chad.... you're fuckin pathetic.... you gotta stop being so stubborn when you're obviously and utterly WRONG... it only makes you look like even bigger of an asshole than you already are AND it actually helps me prove you're wrong....
example... when you shine that flashlight through a window at night time, look at the window & you'll see a light spot on the window itself. Guess what... that's light getting bounced back to you.... not all the light makes it through. Try me... shine a light on a window and tell me that you can't see a slight light spot on the glass.
or, just do what it was telling you & look out a window at night time when you have the lights on inside... you can see a reflection of the room... that's light bouncing off the window & coming back to you.... how can you ignore that?
Now I'll say it once again cuz i know you're slow... YOU'RE HELPING ME PROVE YOU WRONG.
Actually, on second though, keep it up, you're doing a great job at retaining your rock solid reputation as the NESR idiot.

I love when you fuckin morons can't prove what you're saying, so you slightly change the example (like above) but in actuallity your example has nothing to do with the original example--this example is so obvious, your little fuckin moron mind thinks you can change the original to this + no one will notice!Originally posted by OreoGaborio

well dipshit, unless you can PHYSICALLY prove the original wrong then just shut your pathetic mouth!
better yet--sit behind your security guard desk, tell all your computer buddies how smart you are, + then shoot yourself in the face!! ASSHOLE!!!
fine... shine a flashlight onto a magnifying glass, hold it up w/ something dark behind it & look at the glass itself... you'll still see a reflection for the same reasons you see a reflection in a window. I changed the example for you cuz you're too fucking dumb to understand it the first time around.
Chad... it's a known scientific fact that anything, no matter how clear it is, WILL reflect and scatter light away from its intended destination. Why do you think they build giant telescopes w/ minimal lenses and mirrors? cuz each one will alter the image, no matter how precise and clean it is.
YES a magnifying glass will roast an ant on the sidewalk, but it does NOT intensify the light like you say it does, it CONCENTRATES IT.... Now stop being a fucking douchbag, you're actually making me feel sorry for you.

NOW JUST TO PROVE HOW FUCKIN DUMB YOU REALLY ARE,
MY ORIGINAL POST WAS JUST A JOKE-------------SHITBRAIN!!!!
so all your following pathetic posts are to argue with a joke--you peabrained pathetic littlt twerp!!
oh, + yes I saw how you edited each of your posts at least 3 times each--pinhead!!!
i'm sure it was a joke, but the jokes on you... cuz you still look like a bigger asshole & idiot than I do. And the only editing i did was to dumb things down to your level
EDIT: by the way... it still doesn't intensify it, asshole.

no the editing you did + continually do is because you are too dumb to complete a sentence or paragraph the first time around-
the sooner you realize that, the sooner you can begin to NOT be the dumbest person on this site!!! retard
Light intensity is defined in physics as the amount of light per unit of area. Within the area on a surface defined by the focal point of a magnifying glass, the light can be said to have been intensified by the focusing of the glass. The average intensity of the general area has not been increased; the glass has not created light only caused it to focus on a smaller area.
You're both right, depending on how you specify the area of interest. But, more importantly, you're both tools for bickering nonsensically over the semantics of a problem that had nothing to do with the original question anyway.![]()
Darrell, i understand how it is intensified at a focal point, but it is deminished over the area that is equal to that of the magnifying glass.
My point was that the sum of light energy that exits an object like a window, magnifying glass, 3Mprotective film, or anything like that will ALWAYS be less than the sum of light energy that enters it (especially that mesh stuff). My point is much more relevant than the point "Mr. Jenny Craig's Potential Canditate of the Year" was trying to get across.
At least I'm bickering for the sake of sanity, he's bickering cuz he's a douche![]()

To the OP: The reason that most trackdays ask you to tape up your headlight and taillight is to increase the amount of lightness that is reflected back into your motorcycle. A light bike makes for better handling, which is also the reason you'll turn better laptimes when it's sunny out. HTH.
WRONG Dumbass! It's because glass is like diamond and it will scratch ANYTHING. So, if you crash and your headlight hits the track, it will make a big gouge in it, ruining the rest of the day for the other riders.Originally posted by Honclfibr

Plus, Loudon is infested with 'corner-ninjas' who will run onto the track and try to steal your shiny diamond-like headlights, so covering them up with duct tape fools the corner-ninjas into thinking you have no headlight and they leave you alone.
Don't believe me? How many times have you done a trackday WITHOUT covering up your headlights? None, right? and how many times have you seen a corner-ninja? None, right?
I rest my case.
