    Jro Does Homestead

Lucky me, I got to ride Homestead this past Friday! Spent the early AM teching helmets and pointing riders to registration, then got to go partake in a very advanced and in depth track walk with Eric and the advanced group. I scribbled notes and shot photos but even after all the information I was still pretty lost first session out. I rode in the beginners group and had special one-on-one training from some super hot control rider (( )) We hooked up with our Cardo radios and I can't stress enough how useful this communication is while learning the track. I still managed to blow T3 like the total newb I was, and flying through long sweepers like T1 and T10 flabbergasted and touching the brakes much too early because I'm a chicken. I definitely improved with each session and was actually surprised at how quickly I became comfortable out on the track. I spent my entire first season at Loudon biting nails and slugging along at an almost impossibly slow rate- I'm glad to see my skill has improved to a point where it is transferable to new tracks and corners. All in all it was a kick ass experience and def recommend Homestead for any track day rider

Loved the track! At first I was pretty scared by all the straights and sweepers- pretty foreign to anything at Loudon. Finally started to make them connect though and felt good. I also noticed my Arai XD probably isn't the helmet of choice for high speed racing...felt like it was going to blow off multipe times, eek!

oh yea- the monster was pretty sweet! I'd say it was comparable to my SV for weight, height and handling. It may have had more juice then my old girl though....but I reserve judgement til I flog Angelina down a track besides Loudon.

Ya I know!!! I really wish I could've stayed for the racing too, but one week off from work was already stretching my employers thin...and my bank account heh.

Is penguin using Monstahs? Fun bikes. Nicely improved over the old gen. I almost bought one of those last year, but it was too similar to my old monster. wanted something new. On paper that track looks a lot like loudon!

Similarities end right there, on paper. Actually the last few corners feel like big fast versions of Loudon 11-12-12a , and 6-7 reminds me of 3-4 at Loudon but otherwise it doesn't ride anything like Loudon. Big, fast, smooth, and flat.

Once again a bunch of two smokes Paul

Monster is the newest edition to the Penguin rental fleet- I don't know if they will be getting any more, but I know the will certainly be renting that solo one this track season.
