It costs about $10,000 to put on a Bomo day so there's a ballpark for you.
Thanks Degs.

I know alot of the track days have been hurting this year and maybe if their were less TD to compete, then there would be more attendance at the ones left. You TD planners have the advantage of having only one track in the area, so you figure more people have to attend One of the track days that goes on in NH if they want to ride at the track.
I know you guys have to do what you have to do, but I'm going to be a little annoyed if this falls through. Being a business owner myself, sometimes you take a loss and that's what tax write-offs are for. I would never tell my customers that if they didn't build an addition to their house, I couldn't afford to stay in business. If I don't get enough work to stay in business, I should look else-where or figure out if the "enjoyment" of doing the job is worth the expense and aggravation. I'm sure BoMo and Tony's have both lost money this year, but also made it. If you have a low initial registration, seems like you make up for it with the higher reg prices the closer the event gets. I personally think it would be more professional to run all the planned days of the season and then figure out if it was worth doing again for next year or what changes to make.
Sorry for the rant.
I never said Bomo didn't. I said the difference with our advanced (from our intermediate) is there are no passing rules.
Thanks for your business advice.

I wouldn't say that high 1:20's are normal advanced group times. Although it all depends on the day and the amount of riders on track.
No worries fellas you are being watched. If you are too fast you get bumped up. Too slow and you get bumped down. All for good flow and safety. :D

Just for further clarification, BoMo doesn't have an Advanced group. They are Experts! Show some respect!

Re: Come to the LAPS Track day Sept. 28th. The last one of the season!
Let me clarify.
LAPS is not about making money (amazing as that may be) but 1 person losing $3-4k per trackday gets old quickly. Especially when you get people wanting deals the day of etc. (I don't know of anyone that has paid more than $175 BTW)
There has been PLENTY of notice on this forum about what is going on with the day. If someone is going to get annoyed if the day is canceled there is really nothing we can do.
I highly reccomend both Bomo and TTD. Check them out.

Re: Come to the LAPS Track day Sept. 28th. The last one of the season!
I'm going to agree with Expat on the times - it's maybe a little quicker - and I've done both LAPS days this year. The advanced group is fast in that you can pass anywhere like a race practice. Definitely have to be comfortable with someone coming around you in 8/9 or 11/12/12a. Or when Freddy passed me on the inside of 1a :spank.
I sent in my paperwork - lets hope the day goes off - or maybe if you guys don't want to run it you can give the day to Bomo and they can run it? I have two days off I want to ride! :mecry:

Re: Come to the LAPS Track day Sept. 28th. The last one of the season!
IMHO, riders shouldn't be concerned with lap times since it's a trackday. I'm sure there is enough experience on the LAPS staff to accurately determine what the pace of each group is and which groups their customers are best suited in.
Just my .02
...and Doc, I swear if you thank this post I'm gonna take that Ducati poster from Oxx, video tape the burning of it and post it for your viewing pleasure.

I'm an equal oportunity track rider, so I hope you get enough people signed-up, but if it looks like the day isn't happening, maybe BoMo can pick it up since they have a day going on the 29th already.

I was just messing with ya. like I said before that July date, I don't care what group I ride in as long as I get to ride.

If I am running at a good clip in Advanced at a trackday I would say I am running 1:24's. Freddy BLOWS buy me like Jeff/Eric Wood. So I think he is about 10 seconds faster at least and he is our barometer at most of our days.
So let's call it 1:14 (or less) to low 1:20's. 1:25- low 1:30's in intermediate and slower in Beginner.
If you are passing my slow ass in intermediate and I can't catch you in the corners it is time for you to bump. :D :poke:
The biggest difference about our Advanced group is that there are no passing rules.
Freddy does 1:14 race pace but he told me he's done a few 1:12s but was really pushing it. Trackdays I'm not sure if he's dipping into the 14s or not cause he doesn't run a timer and uses his street bikes but I bet he's probably close. He's probably passed me in every single turn at some point this year and its amazing to watch.

Re: Come to the LAPS Track day Sept. 28th. The last one of the season!
If I can make it, I'll be bringing a handful of folks.
I have to make sure my closing on the 24th is all kosher before planning anything for the 28th.

Advanced. I'm shooting for teens on this day (or the next). :D but I think to do that I'm really gonna have to start picking out some reference points.
and we ride together for more than 1-2 turns cause I usually follow you for almost a lap before passing you. you just don't know I'm there

+2. I spoke to Rick on Friday, he said he would post on the website today but nothing so far!
-
Re: Come to the LAPS Track day Sept. 28th. The last one of the season!
He has to wait until Tuesday to call the track and ask them a few questions. We should know then.
Honestly without 40 (we have a little over 20 :( ) It doubt it will happen.
As far as giving the day to Bomo, if LAPS cancels they can pick it up.
-
Re: Come to the LAPS Track day Sept. 28th. The last one of the season!
Doc, what are the options here? You are saying BoMo can pick it up but from their website, assuming it is updated and they take 25 riders per group they seem to have plenty of availability for their day so I am not sure why they would do so?
You mentioned doing something is LAPS was cancelled... any clues?
What questions need to be answered, if the magic number is 40 and the current count is 20, that equals $3000, money talks!
Personally, I need to book time off ahead of time and swapping the day / date is difficult the closer we get not to mention the cost difference of running with another organization..
I guess I am asking what a lot of people are thinking

There are no plans for Boston Moto to take over this date IF LAPS are forced to cancel. Remember, LAPS have not canceled yet. Don't jump the gun. If I know Rick, he will be pulling out all the stops to make this happen.
The Boston Moto event on 29th WILL be happening, no matter how many signups we have and signups are going well so far.

Re: Come to the LAPS Track day Sept. 28th. The last one of the season!
goddamn you people. will you just sign up already. I wanna do 2 days to finish out the season not just one (and yes I know TTDs has 3 the following week but I gotta work)
