Considering doesn't mean actually registering
There is a point were the staff needs to make some margin of profit to pay for the track time, staff, EMT's, etc. The early registrations are uaually a "thank you" discount for locking in a set of guarenteed customers, and avoiding too many fair weathered customers.
Just wanted to make a comment, Meg will be there snapping pics for the day. There will be info at the track, and we can answer questions ahead of time. It's a nice added bell & whistle for a non-frills trackday. If there's enough interest, there will be video coverage available too.

Doc, what's the bast way to bump to the advanced group? Call? Email?
Since I ran the advanced group both days this week, I'm feeling pretty confident that I can continue it. (It actually helped me get back under 1:30.)
I signed up for advanced. where should I be? 1:23's........
Im fine with people passing me wherever, kinda gets me to move a bit faster and ride there coat tails as long as I can.
The advanced group for LAPS is kinda quick and like a Race Practice. Definately most people in the Teens. I have heard people are rather surprised when they come from another trackday.
The Intermediate group at any trackday is usually HUGE. We will be bumping people out accordingly and we are not afraid to ask your slow ass to get back in intermediate if you are too slow for advanced. That said, it all depends on who is at the track.
If I can lap you in Intermediate you get bumped down. If you Lap me get you bumped up. I kid, I kid.
The only group with passing rules IIRC and nothing has changed is the beginner group. We just like to see passes in Intermediate be more friendly than a race practice.

i dont think there's a cutoff...
Kinda like the SAT's... just group people into 3 groups... This is how I hope and wish any trackday I go to does the groups... and not on ego/sticker color/# of trackday tallies.
I am not affiliated with LAPS, I am expressing my opinion... if there's 45 people there, and 15 or more are running teens... although somebody may get a "tow" it would be a safety issue IMO for closing speeds for somebody running high 20's or 30's to be in that group.
I also don't suspect that the top group should be kept to only a few guys...
