IMO the only mistake LAPS ever made was requiring paper proof of insurance. That ended up costing me $, I bought a day I couldn't use due to that. Aside from that, business model is awesome, the way I understand it. PAY WELL UNDER 200, RIDE TRACK ALL DAY. That's a sick deal no matter how you cut it. I hope they come back, personally.
Thanks for the kind words. Kevin and I tried to put on a high-value, high quality based day.
Right up until the day I sold, I had a blast with LAPS, and I got to meet a lot of riders that are just like me. Yeah, it was a lot of work, but a day at the track was better than a day stuck in my office (at the time).
My problem was that it was taking ALL of my time. And with 3 kids and other family stuff going on, my "hobby" had to go.
I guess we'll all find out together what LAPS will do in 2012.
Things have calmed down for me quite a bit since. So now it's on to something different. The sponsors are coming in, looks like I'm going racing in 2011!![]()

I believe it was medical insurance... not bike insurance.

Might have been a proviso of the insurance provider they went through?
Health insurance. In case you made like a booger.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
IMO you should have health insurance before getting on track anyway. I actually till I had it before ever doing a trackday.
I'm kinda sad there won't be any LAPs days this year, I enjoyed them and wanted a couple more days. I guess I can look at it positively, I'm saving some money.

The requirement was for MEDICAL INSURANCE only.
This was MY call when I originally set up the requirements for bike and rider.
My reasoning was simple: I didn't want people driving up to ride our days just to have US return you in a mangled heap to your loved ones.
Makes for a bad vibe

Just noticed that this thread has almost a thousand views....Even though LAPS is taking a year off, I guess people are still interested in inexpensive track days.

Got that right. The more cheaper trackdays the better.
I also hope that LAPS makes it back next year. For the last two years my friends and I have made it to every LAPS TD. Great peoples + great prices = great times.

Doc, if you do go in and need help with the website I have a friend that has offered to help design and make the website better. Also easier to take payment over the web instead of sending it out. think that will help out with the registration. He's also a NESR member.
this year my group of friends will be doing most if not all BostonMoto TD. Will see you there Doc.
